Rumours getting stronger we are really interested in Muani . PSG would be happy with a loan but only with an obligation to buy. Paul O’Keefe has just confirmed it Posts on X that Bissouma and Solomon are staying with the latter supposedly impressing Frank in training recently. Ali Gold saying Spurs will listen to offers for Soloman
As of right now Solomon’s a better bet off the bench than Odobert and Tel. If we could find loans for the latter two I’d be happy to keep Solomon around as backup, always seemed a tidy and skilful player.
Lack of sales this window for unwanted players is disappointing, especially when you see the likes of Chelsea getting silly money for dross. Spurs gonna be stuck with 3-4 players that really should have been long gone and could have added some much needed funds to the kitty
Reasonably sure Chelsea are doing something crooked under the table to get those fees Certainly seen it suggested they pay the agent fees themselves
Bissouma was never likely to bring in much money, and that has only dwindled after his latest disciplinary issue. Plus he apparently doesn't want to leave the UK due to his citizenship application. On the balance of it, it's probably reached a point where selling him isn't worth as much as just keeping him around and using him in cup games etc. He's a popular player and isn't a bad influence, he's just a bit of an idiot.
This has been a problem for ages, and is the direct result of signing overpaid dross in the first place. No one can afford their wages and most players understandably don't want to take a pay cut.
Would work in a cash + player deal, but as that would likely be for an AM or CF that likely means we'd need to sign another CM to plug a gap in the squad
I do like how we apparently pay Schrodinger's Wages: are they too low to entice players to join, or are they too high to entice other clubs to take them on?
Both. We are stuck in the middle and you've hit the nail on the head. We don't pay nearly enough to entice truly world class players, and we pay way too much to truly average players.
They’re the ones that want rid due to his contract ending and him asking for an astronomical amount to renew apparently.
What’s everyone thoughts on this potential deal for Muani? Supposedley turned us down in the past but we’re in the champs league now and have a new manager. Not worked out at PSG but he was great at Frankfurt he’s clearly a talented physical forward and of course there’s that versatility being able to play CF and left and right . Rumours of loan with an obligation could he star for us and be a starting player or someone we will struggle to offload in a season or two ?
It’s a smart enough (potential) signing on the basis Solanke is out for x amount of time and like you’ve said he can play LW and ST too. I’d prefer a natural LW in addition to him though.
Whilst we need to do something, personally, I'm not wildly enthused. He's not a clinical goalscorer, which given our current lack of goals from other sources, could well be a problem. We've got to hope that Xavi Simons is a game changer for us. If he's the player that we clearly think he could be, the number of chances created should significantly increase. It's a big weight for young shoulders, but we're in dire need of creativity and too many of our forwards offer limited amounts of it.
Interesting.... Villa are spending! Does the mean Rodgers might be on the move? Posted this in the Bournemouth match thread, thought I'd put it here. This is interesting....
