I don't think he will. Here, we have straight line runners everywhere including Wissa with Gordon, Elanga, Barnes, Murphy. Zero spark anywhere. At Brentford he had Damsgaard, Mbuemo and others, players who could find that run and create the chance. He's a fair bit different to Isak, and personally I'll put my neck out and say he'll be as much of a success as Harvey Barnes. All teams have to do is sit deep. There's nowhere near enough creativity in this squad. Woltemade is literally the only player with a bit of magic and we have to hope he hits the ground running. Maybe we'll do something awesome later today, maybe ship out Barnes and bring in someone like Fermin Lopez, but I doubt it - it's all grafters, workers and smilers.
The penalty merchant will get a shock when he's sitting on the bench/ not taking penalties. Suddenly, not so impressive.
Any player wanting to leave just has to kick up a stink and they'll get their move for less than their value. We've folded and are still a selling club. **** off.
Even if he’s taking a huge reduction in wages he’ll probably still be looking at £200,000 pw which is still way over our salary budget. Also to suggest we start paying players more is naive in the extreme due to psr and more importantly the European version which links with percentage of salary to turnover as well.
I don't think that's a bad thing, mate - my issue is we thought we had already made it and acted as such far too early in our lifecycle. For me we needed to accept we'd always have to sell off one big asset to bring us up to speed and should've built a plan around getting Isak out ASAP. Woltemade aside, most of the rest of our business could and should've been done before we kicked a ball. Woltemade we had to wait for Bayern to step aside, but Wissa was available for £55m two months and 9 points ago.
Can't see a huge surge in "Wissa 9" shirt sales, can you? So what do we think, rest of the day off for the Newcastle transfer team?
Every club except perhaps Real Madrid are a selling club. Get back to sharpening your pencils ready for school this week.
Gordon Gordon isn't a straight line runner. Now I'll have to discount the remainder of your post (apart from the Barnes part), and after all your hardwork too.
That doth work, 5 year amortised is barely £10m a year and find some lunatics to sign him after 3 years like we did with ASM, all good. Still prefer the rumour guy, but maybe Wissa is less of a gamble at a similar age.
