That wasn’t a small mistake in my book , pulled a move that was never going to come off . Stupid mistake .
From the BBC: Lewis Hamilton has been handed a five-place grid penalty for Ferrari's home race in Italy next weekend, after failing to slow under double yellow flags before the start of the Dutch Grand Prix. It capped a miserable weekend overall for the Italian team, who watched both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc crash out of the race in separate incidents. Hamilton did not follow the race directors' pre-race instructions given to all drivers, asking them to reduce their speed sufficiently at the pit entry to ensure the safety of people on the grid and in the pit lane. The penalty would normally have been a 10-place grid drop, but the stewards acknowledged Hamilton did try to slow down and brake earlier. It means the Briton will start no higher than sixth in his maiden race at Monza as a Ferrari driver.
I genuinely don’t think it was that bad. I can agree its ambitious, but the fact that it ended in a crash vs failing to make the overtake is a small margin imo.
Aside from all the main teams, fantastic result for Hadjar. I really hope he gets time to grow at RB and isn’t promoted to the main team too soon.
I agree . I wonder if RBR come calling , will Hadjar have to take the drive ? I suppose a benefit is that possibly the car won’t be such a pig to drive as it’s a new start for everyone ♂️
As I understand it the RedBull drivers are all centrally contracted (either to RBR or a third entity) and then placed with RB, so I don’t think he gets any say. Means his future is effectively in Tsunoda’s hands? I agree the reg changes might help with the difficulty of the car, but that’s only really happened over the last 2-3 years and plenty of Max’s teammates have crumbled before that - so I still think it’s a significant risk for him.
