Arne Slot offered an update on the fitness of Ibrahima Konate and Florian Wirtz following Liverpool's 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday. Both players were forced from the field in the latter stages of the Anfield clash, but the boss is optimistic neither has a serious issue. On Konate, Slot said: “He thinks it is cramp and I have no reason to doubt him, although sometimes players talk about cramp and then we make a scan and it is more than that. “Jeremie Frimpong wasn't too happy, like some pundits and journalists, when I took him off against Bournemouth because he thought he only had cramp, or only felt a little bit, and he is already out for two or three weeks now. Let’s wait and see. “On a positive note... Joe Gomez, what a 15 minutes. I had to make one difficult choice today because I had to leave one player out of the squad with only Jeremie Frimpong being injured, so then I only had to make one difficult decision on who I could not take in the squad. “The good thing was it was a centre-back, Giovanni Leoni, so we are perfectly placed in that position.” Meanwhile, on Wirtz’s condition, Slot added: “It wasn’t an injury, it was a welcome to the Premier League! “After 85 minutes, I don't think he knew he could have cramp in so many different places and that's what happened. That is welcome to the Premier League, that is welcome to playing in this intensity against an Arsenal that can play really intense as well. “If you bring in - as we do - very, very good players, so, so, so talented but from different leagues and young - Florian is 22 and 23 Hugo - I think it is normal if you are not 27 or 28 you maybe need to make a step towards the Premier League and that's what these two are doing.” Published 9 minutes ago Share please log in to view this image Facebook please log in to view this image Twitter please log in to view this image Email please log in to view this image WhatsApp please log in to view this image LinkedIn
Wouldn't even say we didnt play well. Game was much more tactical than the end to end and we were solid and kept them out, they barely created a chance. Yeah the goal was a worldie that 9/10 goes miles over but even though we weren’t fluent still got into decent positions and a better vvd pass or better salah touch and potentially clear cut chance
difficult to see who we could replace him with and difficult to drop an icon who is on circa £350kpw particularly when he has pretty much 2 years left on his contract
For me it's in his head. He's not got started. The pen v palace was a shocker. So if he has lost his focus a bit he might just need thst international break.
Big result, absolutely awful game of football but let’s be honest, it was to be expected against that lot. Big games from players who needed to step up today, so really pleased for Konate and Kerkez. Szob absolutely fantastic again and deserves his headlines
So the game was boring until the last 20 minutes or so. Special shout out to Kerkez who played really well, as did Konate - it’s incredible what they can do when you have your first choice midfield playing. As for Szlob, he’s probably been our best player in all three games and he’s played in different positions. What a footballer. I’m really not sore how he can be dropped now tbh.
We were good defensively, but surrounded a lot of possession for a home game. But yeah, my point was more about finding a way to win in what was a tough match
Must be rubbish being a season ticket holder at the emirates. The football is dire, full of tactical fouls, trying to win corners and freekicks instead of trying to score from open play, manager who is unadventurous and plays 3 DMs in the big games, just going for 1-0s But I suppose they can get their excitement when they spank a relegation contender like Leeds. #flattrackbullies
Think it will depend on his legs He started last season really well but with how the lad plays he needs resting Hopefully we will keep him fit this season
