Webb's appointment does QPR few favours ahead of United visit
Tue 13th Dec 2011 23:31 by Clive Whittingham
For the second time this season QPR have Wold Cup Final referee Howard Webb in charge of their match this Sunday. Given his record and reputation with our opponents Manchester United that probably isn’t a good thing.

    QPR welcome Manchester United FC

Well , Alex Ferguson and Manchester United are on there way to Loftus Road !
Who would have thought that a few years ago ?

Surprisingly I expected to welcome them as Division leaders which is not the case this year , but this has be our biggest game to date doesn't it?

It certainly feels as big as Manchester City and Chelsea to me !

There has been many memorable encounters over the years but the 4-1 victory at Old Trafford on the 1st of January 1992 was very special indeed. .

    DERRY: ONE TO SAVOUR

Posted on: Wed 14 Dec 2011
Shaun Derry insists QPR should savour this weekend's visit of Manchester United to Loftus Road.

Sir Alex Ferguson's reigning Premier League Champions currently sit two points shy of the summit in the top-tier, but Derry is adamant Rangers have nothing to lose come midday on Sunday.

"We've played one or two big teams of late, but this is the big one," he told www.qpr.co.uk at Tuesday's Christmas visit to The Jack Tizard School.

"We were perhaps a little bit unlucky not to get something out of the game at Liverpool last weekend - maybe we could've nicked a draw on another day.

"To welcome Manchester United down to our home stadium, after 15 years away from the top-flight, is going to be something to savour.

"It's a massive occasion - not just for the QPR supporters and those living in the local area, but us - as players - as well.

"We're under no illusions just how hard this is going to be on Sunday, but these are the kind of games you want to be involved in."

Derry may be savouring the fixture but does he have any chance of playing? Given recent performances I would seriously consider him ahead of Barton who appears to be increasingly frustrated by our tactics and his team mates.

Up front it would be HH alongside Mackie for me with Smith and SWP providing width. Bothroyd surely cannot start again.

At the back we may well see a swan song from One Size by the sounds of things which will be a disaster or a triumph but certainly nothing in between.

A Taarabt come back for the big game? I for one hope not as he is notoriously useless in front of the live cameras.

Oh no! Is this the start of another round of discussions whereby any comments not 100% positive are considered treacherous by those who can't abide serious debate about their wonderful club. I hope not. For the record I think the following have had an excellent first half of the season:
    Kenny
    Ferdinand
    Young
    Traore
    Faurlin
    Helguson

Barton and SWP have also both been impressive in patches but are not consitently living up to their billing IMO. Mackie would definitely be in the above list had he played more.

I have a feeling this will be a home win, it's what I've asked Santa for and he came up with the goods against Chelsea!

Chill....I'v been majorly unimpressed by Both. After watching him i can see why SWP has never really held down a place at a big club...cant cross so shouldnt be a winger....Canst shot (that well with consitantcy) so cant play the free role.

I dont Think Gabbidon has been as bad as everyone expected. Maybe Add Cerny to that list

A bit apprehensive about this one.Mainly because of all the injuries we're having and QPR are no "walk over" team.

    Swords, he is talking sense!
We could have gotten a draw, after all they only won 1 - 0 and we did finish stronger. Whether we deserved a draw is a different argument; did Newcastle deserve a draw against us? The final score is the only thing that matters so you can't fault his logic!

    Cerny expects to make way

QPR goalkeeper happy to give Warnock selection dilemma

By Vasek Kadlec. Last Updated: December 14, 2011 12:35pm

The veteran Czech has been thrust into first-team action over the past three weeks with both Kenny and second-choice keeper Brian Murphy absent due to injury.

Cerny has impressed during his time as a stand-in, with QPR manager Neil Warnock admitting that he has been left with a dilemma ahead of the clash with the title chasers.

Although the 37-year-old was pleased with the praise from his boss, Cerny expects Kenny to win back his place if he is fully recovered from a muscle injury.

"If Paddy is 100 per cent fit he will most likely be picked. But if the manager says something like that, it is very good for me. It means I did well in my role," he told isport.cz.

    Special

"Managers like to not know who to pick and it gets worse only if he has bad players and has to decide who to play."

But Cerny did admit that it would be a special moment if he was selected to face the defending Premier League champions.

He added: "Anyone would be tempted. For every footballer it is a special day no matter how many seasons you have been here."

Cerny is out of contract at the end of the season and although he is planning to return to his home country at some point, he would like to spend one more season at Loftus Road.

"We have been discussing it over and over at home - when we will finally return to the Czech Republic. I have been returning for five years now," he said.

"I arrived in London for a year but this is my seventh. I never thought I would be here so long.

"If I had the possibility I would like to stay one season more. The Premier League is the best destination you can reach if you are a professional footballer."

I think ManU are not as good this year even though stats say different. For me they don't really seem to be firing on all cylinders and thought the old ManU would have beaten that team in the Champs League last week.
Must say i really respect ManU and enjoy watching them on those Euro nights and of course beating Chelsea always goes down well with me. they have a team to dream of and if we lose it won't be embarrassing thing.
Saying all that i really think that this will be a dodgy fixture for them and hope we get them on an off day and get a draw/win and i will be very happy.

QPR are decent, played well at Anfield, but if you watched the game, poor finishing and a good keeper meant it was not 3 or 4 0, you were opened up and a more clinical team would have it tucked away by 60 mins

If you are opened up by United as much I fear they'll get more than 1

And then thre's webb, did I mention Webb

Not denying that, they were almost as bad as us in their failure to turn dominance into goals in that game; we should arguably have 4 - 6 more points if our finishing had been better in other games, but to balance it we've had some fortune too so we can't complain really.

I think sunday's game will depend on how the defence cope with Rooney and Nani, and whether NW decides to block the midfield up and try to win the battle there. Maybe an old head like Derry with ali and Bartin as defensie midfielders will assist in stopping the man u attack. We also need to get a striker back, like HH that knows where the goal is.

I would take a point right now but just want to see a slick pass and move game -similar to how we played city but with a different end result.
