Shame flynn had to pull out. We would have looked alot more solid with him in. Thought Robinson struggled a bit today
We lack a back bone in the team. Funny that for the first time in about 20 years we are below pompey and they are our next fixture!
Only had the bbc live text on as I was meant to be working (anything more verbal / visual would just mean I'm watching that instead of coding) so not able to gauge much from that other than looking at the stats we seemed to be creating a bit more going forward and the second goal against us wasn't going to get saved. Portsmouth was always going to be the first game where WS has no real excuses for the team, tactics and performance and really is when it all should have clicked so lets see. I'm confident that the window has improved the team overall but the next 2 weeks of gelling in training are really important
It’s all very well having good plans and making exciting signings, but this must translate to winning performances and a points tally befitting a team of our stature and expectations. I’m not doom and gloom just yet but won’t cut SR any slack until they rectify their errors.
It’s a work in progress. It’ll be fine. No coincidence the teams that are performing best right now are the ones that haven’t had dramatic change to their squads.
You can still be annoyed/angry at SR for previous failings, but cutting Will Still and the players some slack is needed though.
Just watched the highlights. Does anyone know what the little argument between still and their manager at full time was all about?
I agree about not cutting SR any slack - however, I do think it's unrealistic to expect top performances at this early stage. But performances and results aren't one and the same. I think it's perfectly acceptable to say that we've had two very poor results in a row now.
One poor result, one average result. Neither of them are ‘very’ poor. If an away point at a mid table team at the start of the season is considered *very* poor, then expectations really do need to be adjusted.
Think that is a decent point tbh. Watford not a bad side at all & we’ve just sold what were our two biggest attacking threats last season and had a day for one of our new signings to bed in. Think couple weeks break and then we can start to judge properly. Remember Stoke were top last week & Ipswich away / Wrexham first game season both difficult fixtures. Biggest game of season next though! 3 points a must
It's probably been said already (I haven't looked), but is this a re-run of "Billy's Boots"? For those of us of a certain vintage, this was a comic strip in several comics, including The Eagle. Right, I'll get back in my box now
Does anyone know if we will be losing any/many players during this international break? Or will Will Still have a full squad to work with, for two weeks?
Its merely a reference to JWP mysteriously failing to score a free kick since he left and Manning suddenly filling his boots. Funnily enough, I asked my dad what was his favourite strip in The Eagle comic the other day. He used run the gauntlet to sneak down and read it before his domineering older brothers; he said Beau Geste and Dan Dare!
Jeez, just went on Saintsweb and it is pages and pages of bitching about Bazunu. If you think that draw is on Bazunu you need to find a new sport.
I don't understand the weight of opinion against him other than the past seasons must have clouded over the fact that this season so far he's been doing alright. I didn't see the stream of the game so can't comment on today but my understanding of the second was it was a peach of a free kick and not his fault he didn't save it.
It’s confirmation bias. You think he is crap so study the crap out of every goal he concedes, looking for evidence he could have saved it.
Russ ball constantly left our GK's exposed, either from their own mistake passing out, others, or on the counter attack. He's yet to concede a goal this season where I've gone "He 100% should have saved that". I'm not saying Bazunu is the best GK in the league, but he's not as bad as people make out. His excellent fingertip save vs Wrexham to keep it 1-0 showed what he is capable of.
