In all I have read regarding Nunez rumours only one club was interested enough to contact City and that was Trabzonspor who were thinking in the region of £5m fee. All your talk about Spanish interest certainly never made it to the British news outlets in any way at all.

Was surprised and shocked to hear about Nunez moving to that other lot from so fick, but then realised they are paying £10m for a player with an injury list as long as your arm, as last season he had a hip injury (Oct 20 - Nov 29) Muscle injury ((12 Jan - 7th Feb '25) a leg injury (12- 21st Feb) and another muscle injury (2nd- 13th March '25 ). Now he has got an ankle injury. So he is not always guaranteed to start dispite how good he is/was

To add to the poll, I would also add in a creative midfielder, eg a Hoolahan, Crook, Emi, type player

If we sell Nunez to Ipswich & lose Sargent that would pretty much end our season in the first month.

Hi everyone. I see Carrabuh's back, so I thought another bad penny might as well return. I've 'lurked' on here ever since so I know that most of you are still here with the exception of the General.

As always I have an opinion. I just wanted to say we mustn't accept at face value what the club says about Nunez pushing for the move. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but we simply can't know. I don't know about you, but when I see Zoe Webber, 'honesty' and 'probity' are not the first words that spring to mind. And as for Knapper, there are now five different occasions when his memory of what happened differs from that of someone else - Thorup, Riddersholm, Gunn, Wilshire, and Hernandez (speaking about Nunez on his behalf), so perhaps Knapper isn't George Washington either.

I wish I could say something more upbeat on my return to the fold, but this has all the look of yet another season which has the hallmarks of turning into yet another ****show. I'd say lions led by donkeys except we've sold nearly all of the lions by now.

It's hard not to Gozo, or so it would appear! <laugh>
Last time I was in Gozo was just before the Suez crisis in 1956. I can't imagine how much it must have changed since then.

Good to have you back Gozo.

The one thing that I would add to your comment above is that the club haven’t officially said anything. The reports of Nunez rejecting 2 contract offers and pushing for the move have come from John Percy of the Telegraph and appeared to be confirmed by the PinkUn guys.

In terms of best performing CMs I might agree, again from the eye test, although Wright managed to chalk up 4 assists at the tail end of last season, matching Nunez contributions for the entire season - which could suggest that Wright is at least as creative as Nunez (granted he didn’t get any goals).

I think we can all agree that Sargent is our best performer.

I would say Nunez is our most elegant and cultured footballing midfielder, and assume most posters agree. Whether that means he’s a top performer etc is a different debate

£10m is a lot for a player unproven at a level higher than the Championship, who for all his talents and technical skill can go missing in games and is too often crocked which destabilises a key position.

I’d much rather we signed him on a long term contract because I like his style and when he’s fit and singing he can win us a game either with a freekick or by pulling the strings in midfield with his technical ability creating dominance. But if he’s refusing to sign, £10m is not to be sniffed at.

The problem with selling him is we will then need to reinvest that £10m wisely - we are thin on the ground with cultured midfielders as it is.

£2.5m is a lot of "add-ons". I'd have to assume we're reliant on Ipswich getting promotion back to the PL and Nunez remaining injury free to play enough mins in order to get that on top of the £7.5m fee. Still, £7.5m is not to be sniffed at.

IF Sargent & Nunez leave the only other scorerer this season is Darling.

    100% home record of defeats.

This season was looking like it could be good before it started with money splashed about but it could just as easily end in relegation.

I was at the game Tuesday & it was embarrassing 2-0 down & they were still passing backwards like they were sitting on a lead.

We have a trend at home of giving away a soft goal about 40 minutes & giving up .

    Unacceptable

The Southampton game was depressing but showed why we need Sargent to stay. If he does, it will be the biggest success of this window. 12 new players will take time to integrate so some patience is required. We went 2-0 down against Boro but showed a lot of character to fight back to 2-1 even after Wright was sent off. We're fortunate that Topić arrived match fit and has integrated well. McLean being fit again is another bonus and if they can build a partnership things should improve. Diallo has already had an impact and Mattsson has played 5 matches already in Denmark so should be match fit. Much will also depend on how soon Kvistgaarden, Crnac and Jurásek can up their game. The next 6-7 games will tell us a lot.

    And Mattsson is in!

Sara, Rowe, Sainz, Nunez & Sargent have been our only bright sparks for creativity or goal contributions & we are down to just Sargent.

The money raised from selling those has been spent on replacements that we can only hope turn out well .

Unfortunately on current performances most look like duds.

Forson was looking good before his injury and Diallo has already fitted in well with two assists and a good range of creative skills at WB. I also like what Kvistgaarden has shown already, but much will depend on how Crnac, Schwartau, Marcondes and Jurásek can up their play, as all have the potential to add new dimensions of creativity. We need that soon though.

Diallo has shown flashes of brilliance Forson came on & scored 2 late goals last season but constantly injured .

There is talent in the squad but at this moment in time other than Sargent we don't have anyone with more than a couple of goals .

I really hope they click & we get that first home win but the longer it lasts the more pissed off the home fans will become.

On the back of a long depressing losing streak from last season
