I'm not sure fans need appeasing really. This was always incredibly likely and I'm not sure how people convinced themselves it might not.
I hate this idea of needing to 'appease fans' - looking at Twitter and other socials, the vast majority would have trouble tying their shoelaces and breathing at the same time, let alone understanding what might be best for a football club.
So many ready to believe whatever suits their SR bashing narrative. I'll wait until the deal is announced and the end of the window before flinging my ****. The actual fees and conditions may not be published in full so the guessing game will continue.
Looks like an interesting day or two ahead. Days that will define the window one way or the other. I was thinking about a week ago that SR had had a 9 or 10 out of 10 window in terms of outgoing transfers and a fairly average one on incomings. They've done pretty well trimming the squad and getting rid of dead wood (HOW MUCH for Sulemana?) with one or two more still to leave, but none of our new signings were particularly exciting. The Dibling and Fernandes sales are the big deals though and while they aren't disasters they certainly aren't triumphs so they probably bring that outgoing rating down a bit. We'll see what happens on the incomings.
It’s just because we got to the end of the window, similar to last time, that people who if asked in May about Dibling/Fernandes would say they are definitely off, now thought they might stay. As the window rolls on and nothing happens I guess it’s just human nature to think “only a week to go, maybe we keep them” but a lot of deals get done at the end of the window and it only takes a few hours to complete a transfer if you really want to. Neither of them were ever staying if someone came in with a serious bid. As being reported they both wanted out so the club gets the best fee they can.
When Adam Blackmore and Alfie House interviewed Solak earlier in the summer he said the club doesn't want to be as reliant on loans this year as they were last time we were in the Championship so I'm not expecting a lot of action on that front.
QPR have spent quite a lot this window, doubt they get near our valuation (whatever that might be, £10m may get it done based on his start to the season)
Be daft to sell him this Summer imo. There's already quite a lot of upheaval this week and no need to add to that.
Almost like we should wait until the end of September before we start making judgements on Still/the squad/promotion chances etc
I thought the line was that if the player wants to go and we receive a bid that we deem acceptable then he goes. So if we think say £8m is good for Edwards and QPR offer it, and he wants to go back there which maybe he does if he's not going to be a starter here and he had a great time and was appreciated there. Then he goes.
This has always been my concern about the skates game being when it is. They're going to have a very settled team and we are going to be the complete opposite.
I agree but there is still some PR management that is likely required There was enough doubt that some though we might be able to keep one But even for those who never believed it - just banking the money and not reinvesting is not a great look
