And at the start of the window they were talking £1m for him. So £250k plus the same on potential add ons is a good result.
Pink'un suggesting Rowe's move to Bologna confirmed and we'll earn another £900k from the sell-on clause.
Long looks like moving to Southampton. They shouldn't have any problems with his wages. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/n...george-long-closing-in-on-southampton-switch/
Long move now confirmed on loan with no option to buy. At least his wages are taken care of for this season
Pleased for him; good character, nice fella. Knapper gave him the contract, that's where criticism should be directed.
Paul Clement was a big fan from what I can recall and recommended that we extend Longs deal last Summer, amongst some interest from another club - I can’t remember who now. Of course Long got the deal and Clement then left the club within a matter of a few months. Tony Roberts clearly hasn’t been impressed along with most of the fan base
Last year was a steep learning curve for Knapper, taking on a young and relatively inexperienced Head Coach and then recruiting 10 new players, mostly young, to suit the new approach. Once that unraveled he's had to do it again with a more experienced Head Coach and players to suit a new approach. This time the players are more experienced but there are still big adjustments and playing relationships to develop. The difference now is that there is less theory and more emphasis on establishing a winning mentality and deeper commitment in training and during games as the players gain experience. The second half against Boro showed that deeper commitment, which was too often lacking last season. Knapper knows this has to work now and he must be as concerned about the future as we are.
Nunez set for a £10m move to Ipswich. His representatives have turned down multiple contract offers and with a year left to go the offer is too good to turn down Norwich look to be bringing in Mattsson for £3m to replace him Reported by the PinkUn
A lot of money for someone who by the sounds of it didn’t want to be here. I did wonder after he saw his 2 best mates at the club depart - Sainz and Hernandez. Also a lack of Spanish speakers at the club now with his lack of English speaking skills maybe a factor
Did anyone see this coming? Nunez going is really bad news. Well, lads and lasses hold on to your hats, this season is going to be a rough ride.
We were apparently valuing him at £2.5-3m this summer in light of his contract soon being up but not much interest has come in. We were then prepared for him to see out his deal. Knapper has negotiated a deal worth 3or4 times his earlier value - I think that is a case where we can’t really say no, as much as the emotional sentiment would be to refuse the move. Also important factor that Nunez is pushing for the deal
Could this be why Wright was prefered over Nunez for the first game of the season !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is all I could find about Emi: "Villa have rejected a first offer from VfB Stuttgart for playmaker Emiliano Buendia but discussions over his departure remain ongoing, despite Unai Emery only recently expressing his desire to keep him at the club. Buendia, who joined Villa from Norwich City for £33 million back in 2021, was originally on the list of players Villa wanted to cash in on to help comply with PSR and SCR. But as pre-season went on, Emery came around to the idea of keeping Buendia and that thinking was only solidified further by Jacob Ramsey’s departure for Newcastle United."
Oh, we are going to treble our highest salary to get him? Would love it to be true but he is not about to take a massive pay cut to join us. Even a loan deal would likely be out of our reach. On Nunez, he played 105 league games in three seasons, and four this season takes total while here to 142 that he was available for, scoring just 11 league goals. So he took no part in 37 games out of 142, that is nearly 30%. With only one year left I would have expected a fee of no more than £5m. But the down side is with £2.5m add ons we have to hope binners do well in order to get it. Sorry, that is a stretch too far so forget that £2.5m.
Are you saying the data around Nunez doesn't match the value some people place in him ? 11 league goals in 109 games doesn't a first glance seem a great return !
