We could combine the two skills. Knowing Saints, we'd get a goalkeeper who struggles with the basic goalkeeping, and has basic footwork

 

Bazunu has excellent distribution. That was noticeable in its absence last night.

 

Yeah I am gradually turning to be happy with him in goal for this season for this reason, I think his distribution will create quite a few goals for us and could make us a big threat on the counter.

I think Martins style was awful for him, removed his best attribute and put him under huge pressure at the back for no real gain.

I'll admit that I missed the game because of an emergency last night, was it a 3-1-4-2 as the Beeb are reporting it?. I'll be disillusioned to see the same starting line up as the Stoke game, surely there must be some changes.

It’s a fiddled draw again, with the teams in European competitions being kept from playing each other.
Shouldn’t be allowed. It should be a straightforward draw and if the teams in European football are drawn to play each other on a date that clashes with the European competition, they should have to suck it up and put out a B team.
They shouldn’t be rewarded for their finishing position from last season. They already get that by missing the first two rounds.

There was a period in the 2nd half when Matsuki was absolutely screaming for the ball and I think it was Flynn passed backwards. Matsuki went ape **** with him and had a proper go. Way more of that please. Brilliant attitude.

I think I might end up loving this chap.

 

Interesting. We all noted that he had been ignored when in good positions, but great to hear he didn’t just take it!

 

This is an incredible goal. Think the Norwich defender stood off and certainly would have had a roasting from managers.

 

I pointed that out last night, except for the bit about Matsuki going nuts. What made it worse, for me, was that Downes had time and space to turn with the ball and see the forward pass.

 

Yeah he was absolutely raging about the backwards pass. To be fair he was in tonnes of space. I rarely watch individual players as a whole and tend to look at them as a whole unit but he caught my eye a couple of times. Anyone who demands the ball and wants to go forward is all good with me
