An oldie but goldie... Mackem Mrs Brown on the warpath and her offspring (most probably) hurls insults whilst hiding behind her. Oooooo, scary stuff.... Meanwhile the mackem in the grey hoodie giggles in amusement
"Thirteen home defeats in a row in the cups? That is absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing. All those who went should have their money refunded. Shameful and spineless." Saw this post whilst lurking on the mackem forum.... 13 in a row you say ! That cant be right can it?
Right someone explain without bitterness, why don't the Mackems turn up? Cos there are ****ter teams than Sunderland that sell out, is the SoL just genuinely too big? Cos it is a massive stadium
According to BBC, they had over 22,000. So how does it look SO empty? That would indicate it was almost half full, yet whole sections were completely empty. And the other areas didn't look crowded. Bizarre.
Think at the minute the crowds are struggling to a degree to their years in the wilderness. Younger fans supporting other teams and older die hard fans dying off and the fact they lost a generation in the 90’s to us. Not all of them before they come piling on in but a lot of school age kids supported us rather than them as it was the cool thing and sensible thing to do
I mean it might help if they had an identity. Not just in terms of football but even as a place. I mean it’s a large town rather than a city with not a lot going for it. Doesn’t have any major infrastructure and isn’t needed for anything. I mean no major shopping centre, train station, airport, landmarks, places of interest. No nightlife so to speak, there’s a theatre that may attract acts such as the krankies.Nothing much happens that would be considered newsworthy (last thing I remember was some bloke shagging a seagull in public). Major employer is Nissan and even that’s in Washington (not Sunderland as they’d like to claim). A truly memorable season in football terms is a promotion or escaping relegation. They don’t do cup runs very often and they copy loads of stuff we do in a Poundland like fashion.
