I'm not so sure about that anymore Rover. We've recently lost a Cat C listed building (Cumbernauld cottage Theatre) and a Cat B listed building(St Mungo's Church). Within a week or so of each other and very little drama over either, the theatre had been abandoned for a few years but the Church was still very much a going concern.
Sorry to hear that Ric, we should try our best to protect these old buildings, they're our grandkids heirlooms.
Whilst looking at the old pics of a very tidy city in the early 70’s I suddenly realised that employment played a massive part . I had choices of jobs but hers a list of the cracking companies we’ve lost Rosedowns Sissons Spooners Humbrol Priestmans Imperial Findus Rosens Dunstons ( original) Weekend Trailers Hollis’s Brighams ( original) Harlands There’s loads more you can add I’ve only picked a few . If you listed today’s on 50 years time how many would be remembered fondly ?
Isn't Rosedowns still on the go. My dad served his time at Priestmans, and later on was at Brigham and Cowan.
