Interview after the game: "This club didn't beat St Mirren in four attempts last season so it's a tough place to go. I'm proud of the bravery my players showed and it's a good point."
That late-ish leveller from Findlay Curtis rescues a point for Rangers, but it does not prevent Russell Martin's side recording their worst domestic start in 36 years. Martin now has just three wins from his first nine games - the worst record of any permanent Rangers manager.
He somehow seems to be doing worse than I expected. I mean, I did think he'd end up struggling and eventually get sacked, but I wasn't expecting it to go as badly as it is.
The Scots Prem is blood and thunder. He gives them tippy, tappy across the back line. You might be okay if you win games, but when you fail to win and lose ground on Celtic. No chance. If he was giving them the right kinda of physical football he might have a longer stay. It will end badly very soon
HELP US PLEASE!! The guy is a complete and utter goon. He managed to fluke it past Panathanikos who should've been out of sight in the 1st half at Ibrox if they actually had a striker who could finish. We played Plzen at Ibrox and played well for 60mins then got absolutely battered over there and managed to only get beat 2-1 when genuinely, if it was 5-0 it wouldnt have flattered them. Domestically we are somehow worse than last season. Reading some of the comments on here has been thoroughly depressing as it's like we are going through what you already have. Kevin Thelwell is a ****ing idiot. Regards Barrie
He's already toast, if we end up 9 behind Celtic 4 games into the season then the fans will not accept that. The board can pretend all they want, this guy is already wilting under the strain of the job, throwing players under the bus to deflect from the fact that we are utterly woeful. Signing guys from the English championship and thinking they can compete with the 6ft 5 Neanderthals who play in the Haggisball league just doesnt work, we've seen this countless times before. Scotch refs are woeful and you basically need to be assaulted to win a foul up here (unless you're Celtic)
Don't be too hard on Thelwell - Martin can clearly nail an interview. But I always thought it was odd appointment for Rangers - his only top flight experience was a ****ing disaster. Sadly for you he is far too arrogant to adapt so it will be more of the same until the board have had enough.
We've got Brugges on Wednesday and we are 3-1 down thanks to 2 self-inflicted goals and a worldy by their centre back. Brugges came out second half and took the foot off our throats so we played a bit better but Brugges could've scored another 2 second half if it weren't for some good saves by Butland. Then we've got Celtic on Sunday at Ibrox. If we end up down after 5mins then I reckon someone will try and assault him from the stands. We've seen some horrid **** at Ibrox since 2011 but never heard the vitriol aimed at this guy since Neil Lennon was Celtic boss. Martin was for from popular, probably stemming from his spell here as a player where he was woeful, but three draws against teams with a fraction of our budget is a horrendous start for him.
His first nine games for us, I recall, included five defeats and one draw. With the only three wins all being 2-1 wins against a couple of promoted clubs and one who was nearly relegated the season before. Awful start. Obviously over time, things greatly improved that season. But ultimately that mainly involved beating teams who had vastly inferior squads to ours. The damage was already done with regards to our automatic promotion hopes. We never saw sight of Leicester again that season. And then the less said about last season...
