And that smacks of paranioa! Almost sounds like a conspiracy!

I think it's as clear as day as what is got to give.

You want it spelled out and put in writing before you will re-visit your position...and even then you may not even change stance or accept it.

That's why, in my opinion, this is a pointless discussion.

Reading this thread has given me a good laugh. You can spell something out to someone a hundred times but it goes to show that if there ever so determined to be belligerent then you may as well just :headbang:

The PLC are using an unspecified charge to garner support for their efforts to eliminate political singing. That isn't a conspiracy, that is what is happening.

You have already demonstrated that you don't know what you are talking about, so it is very difficult to place any stock in anything you have to say. Of course you can appreciate my position.

    They know...

    We hear it

    Have heard

and will continue to hear it

Will they stop... no because it's a case of "we're right"!

IRA chants have no place in football (you believe they do as it's educational) - these were chanted - go sing them in Manchetser city centre to see if they have a place!

This is my last comment as I do believe you have a viewpoint on this but I also believe you love an arguement. I can see no point in having it as you wil never back down or change stance as long as you can argue your viewpoint (right or wrong).

FC Zenit St Petersburg and Celtic FC have received fines from UEFA relating to games in the clubs' respective UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League campaigns.

FC Zenit St Petersburg have been fined a total of €50,000 for crowd incidents at two UEFA Champions League group stage matches.
The Russian club were fined for the setting off of fireworks, illicit banners, insufficient organisation and a pitch invasion. The punishments relate to Zenit’s Group G home games against FC Shakhtar Donetsk on 1 November and against APOEL FC on 23 November.

In another case, Scottish club Celtic FC have been handed a €15,000 fine for illicit chanting at their UEFA Europa League Group I match against Stade Rennais FC in Glasgow on 3 November.

Article 11 (2e) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations states that disciplinary measures may be taken for the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message that is not fit for a sports event, in particular if it is of a political, offensive or provocative nature.
Appeals may be lodged against the verdicts of the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body within three days of the dispatch of the reasoned decisions.

    Celtic Football Club Statement

By: Newsroom Staff on 13 Dec, 2012 18:39
FOLLOWING UEFA´s decision yesterday (Monday) to impose a fine of 15,000 euros upon Celtic Football Club, the Club would like to clarify the reason for the fine being imposed.

The charge related to "illicit chanting", specifically, "ooh ah up the Ra", and fell under Article 11 - 2 e) of UEFA´s Disciplinary Regulations. These state:

    ".......disciplinary measures may be taken against member associations or clubs in case of inappropriate behaviour on the part of their supporters including;

    e) the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message that is not fit for a sports event, in particular if it is of a political, offensive or provocative nature ...."

Having reviewed the evidence provided by the police, we will not be appealing this decision.

This fine clearly demonstrates that UEFA takes such matters very seriously, and the Club would re-iterate its own position that such chanting is not welcome at Celtic Football Club.

It is extremely disappointing that the otherwise excellent behaviour of the vast majority of Celtic supporters, and the reputation of the Club, has been undermined by the actions of a tiny minority.

I think this puts it to bed.

Quite the opposite. I don't like to argue. Nor do I insist on being right, but I do insist that arguments being put forward are sensible, logical and well informed.

The premise of this thread is that the Uefa decision should now bring an end to any argument over the appropriateness or otherwise of the singing of rebel songs.

    This does no such thing.

At the time, it was commented that the "chant" that brought about the charge came from the Celtic symphony. If you can be bothered, or if you care, you can see my opinion on the song. If indeed this was the song, then this is not the same as suggesting that all rebel songs should cease at Uefa's behest. The PLC are allowing you to reach your own conclusions about it and here we are.

The likelihood is that I am correct in this assertion.......But that doesn't matter to those happy to manipulate the situation.
