when you listen to a lot of the old pro's they often talk about never been 100% fit in their whole career.
it was just a case of strapping it up, spraying it or whatever and pushing on.
    .
scared to lose their place in the team, also wonder if the amount of money in the game affects this attitide as well- dont need to play anymore to be wealthy so some of them probably think why should i push it.

Am I misremembering, or wasn't McCarthy originally supposed to back on loan in Ireland this season?

Yes, quite, I was just thinking, when Sinik is sat in his gold plated retirement rocking chair,( if he isn’t already) surely he’ll look back at his career with regret. How can you be injured so much without really playing? I’m sure if he were a little braver he’d have played more. That said, no one can take away the memories of his six professional games!!! :(

If everyone is carrying knocks and injuries then it's a level playing field. Old days there were just fewer subs and smaller squads.

These days playing through an injury is more of a disadvantage as you're almost always coming up against 11 fully fit players.

Your comment just shows how far the game has come in terms of fitness and sports science, and yes, more money sloshing around the game allowing for bigger squads across the board.

Of course, that being said there will be some where it's psychological, and there will be some where they are content to pick up a cheque on the sick, as in many workplaces.

We signed him and then loaned him back to Ireland last season.

Famewo came on the pitch with a minute to go v Oxford. The act of running on at speed must have injured him.

I've wondered the same about Famewo's injury in particular. He comes with a poor injury record and he's straight out with "a kick to his calf". Did McLoughlin and Jones never get a kick in training or did they maybe play through it when it happened? It's harsh to assume anything but you have to wonder.

Writes the man still following me about from a previous user name. Obviously read my post, a stalker. Seems he has an irony bypass instead of the gastric one which would have been better for him.

I'd be more than happy for Mccarthy to step in if needed from what I've seen. Oh but he's young and never played men's football. It's a wonder players ever come through at other clubs with that attitude. Is it just a City fan thing?

Probably because he’s always out in town giving it large to the munters in Wetherspoons about how he’s a million pound footballer.

Not really. Guardiola is quite hesitant to give younger players a chance. Obviously, there’s Foden and Lewis but look at some of the players that have come through their academy, been sold and have been quality since.

Palmer didn’t even want to leave. He was happy to go out on loan and fight for a place when he returned but Guardiola ****ed him off for £40 million. Decent fee but if I’m him, I’d be kicking myself every day.

It's definitely a city fan thing to see a bit of promise in a youngster, declare him the next George Best and then not understand why he's not first name on the team sheet every week.

Then attack the coaching staff for 'not giving him a fair chance' when he can't get in a L1 or 2 side out on loan.
