Put in that ‘replacement for Wilson’ context I can warm to that argument. Isak has totally ****ed up our transfer window, not only has he knocked our recruitment priorities sideways he’s also handed every advantage to the enemy that is other clubs and disadvantaged the club he’s contracted to … at what could have been a pivotal moment for us. He is going to cost us way more in transfer fees than we would otherwise have faced for striker replacements, so I want him missing out on his dream move… I want that, I want his appalling approach to engineering a transfer to cost him a dream. Nobody will die as a result, so he should never be enabled to win this. I know the commercial reality makes this really difficult…
Given we MUST have PL experience these are the only options so you’re right, best scenario. We all feel the club have missed better deals but honestly £100m dropped on these two and a £130m sale of Isak is fine by me. Jackson will be desperate to prove himself and Larsen just seems a steady workhorse who offers the hold up play we used to get from Wilson.
It’s got an Eddie Howe feel. With the two strikers swapped in for Isak, it’s good enough for cup runs and top 4 challenge but it’ll avoid stardust whilst Howe is in charge and PSR/APT remain.
Unless we can go out spend £1bn in a single window and sign one of the best managers on the planet, we ain't winning a league
23:29h in Not606 and there’s a flavour of the end of a very heated transfer business meeting where consensus is being reached… we’re none of us high-fiving, but we seem to have made a best-worst decision and plumped for phoning Chelsea in the morning. we’re all going back to our wives with a heavy heart tonight, but at least we’ve decided on a course of action So, we draw a line under this thread?
I agree with you... Was hoping for the shop to include some exciting treats, but unfortunately the cupboards have been stocked up with bestway nuts and liquorice all sorts.
I would go for 1 striker. Of the apparent relevant three of Jackson, Wissa and Larsen I would opt for Wissa. He should be good enough to keep things ticking over for this season. Plus if Isak is still here on 02/09 then he will play perhaps not immediately but it’s World Cup year. Next summer aim for a replacement star striker. Isak doesn’t go anywhere in January. Once he’s scored a few goals the fans will back off him. Do not give in to Liverpool and tell Isak that he will never be sold by us to them so pick an alternative for next summer.
I've been positive, but I can start to sense I'm losing my patience with our beige approach. The place needs a lift.
