Lots of links circulating now, it looks like we’re seriously looking for two signings and a loan

Defender who can cover a FB position, another forward/striker and AM

I’d not be surprised if we bring in three new faces, downside it looks like we need to slash prices of those who are surplus or sell Struijk

Can’t see Struijk leaving, unless he’s pushing to go. I don’t think we’re top heavy with quality CB.

I’ve had a suspicion that we’d recruit DCL, and funnily enough I could see us going for Josh Brownhill on a free as well. I suspect it wouldn’t be welcome by some on here, but I reckon he could do a job, and I wouldn’t be disappointed if it happened.

Marquee signing would be a player of top quality that on paper instantly improves our starting 11 like a Rodrigo, Raphinha or the lad we missed out on Paixoa.

Doesn't necessarily mean its a given but the intent is there.

Rodrigo was a flop and didn’t fit our system at the time so not always essential to get a marquee signing. If there is one out there then we should try but if not then I don’t think it’s necessary as the players we have bought in at lower costs have looked good so far. Don’t want any divas in the squad that think they’re better than they are either. Need to be a team this year. Liked the sound of Paixoa and would’ve been glad to get him but not sure how many names out there like that are achievable for where we are.

I agree. I was just giving my opinion on what constitutes a 'marquee' signing.

Don't really need one if recruitment is good but sometimes getting in a 'big' name can tempt other signings in.

I would also ask, was Raphinha a marquee or did he become one under the coaching of Bielsa?

Raphinha was a marquee. We had enquired about him but got told we had no chance. The window moved on and suddenly Raphinha became available and Leeds were told so. It should have been more money but the deal had to happen quickly. Apparently we couldn't believe our luck.

Im pretty sure the Rodrigo and Raphinha transfers were the pull that Bielsa had.

Raphinha was much more well known than Paixão is and Paixão would have been the marquee statement signing for us this summer.

I think the 49ers like a big signing tbh. Not sure how heavily they were involved in the Rutter deal. That was a huge waste of resources for an untested youngster.
