LOL. There a was a joke; What do you call a Russian with three balls?? Who'd you'd nick a bollock off!! which post 1986 mutated into simply "A Ukrainian"
Well in that case Alfie House may as well tweet that the transfer business has finished for Southampton this summer
Assuming that’s a direct question from a Russian journalist that might explain the attitude and issue Krasnodar seems to have with selling to us. “Even though they play in the championship”…
Yeah agreed. Almost feels like there could be some sort of national pride involved here. I assume Russian clubs have less money and have found it harder to sign players since they've been excluded from the Champions League etc so there might even be political pressure behind the scenes. Can't have "glorious Russian club" selling to a second tier English side after all...
Would be very weird. Most likely thing is that the owner is simply stalling as much as he can in the hope that a bigger offer comes in.
They’re in a very weird situation though, when patriotism is running high symbolism is important, while footballing wise - like England was cut off after Hysel - a mythos regards how good their league, club teams and players are maybe developing. Elsewhere, Celtic fans don’t enjoy their players coming to us - it’s a bit of a jolt - the tendency is to think Old Firms best, if prized away should going to the best in the PL. If there is a question of Russian fan pride over the sale; they could market it (as we have to the player) that Saints have been an established club in the world’s most glamorous league and need a star to mastermind a return. Yet with a fee as low as it would be, that’s a hard sell to Russian fans.
According to Ivan Karpov's journalist, Southampton has made an offer to Krasnodar for $18 million for Eduard Spertsyan !
Wish I could believe this but I don’t. But who knows? Roughly £15.5 million is big money in Championship if true.
