Totally unrealistic for us to get promoted! We can still have a decent season and no threat of relegation. Then go again next season, lessons learnt, ship shape #fingerscrossedemoji
You need to tell our players that is unrealistic for them to try and get a top 6 finish. I think one or two might want to disagree.
Thanks, without Puerta and kamara its about 6.5m and with the transfer embargo are we in the black? Wages possible equal with Sinik gone and those loans gone, maybe wages still a bit higher?
Wages are very tricky to say. We've got some big earners off the books in Alzate, Pedro, Racioppi, Mehlem and Omur (hopefully a good chunk being covered by Antalyaspor). But then McBurnie, Lundstram and Ajayi won't have come cheap and I'd imagine we're covering at least half of Gelhardt's.
We needed to clear excess baggage. We don't need to sell valuable players, there is a difference. Kamara probably sits somewhere on the line there. In my opinion I'd ship him out tomorrow and let people play who don't sulk around like spoilt teenagers I respect that some fans like him and think he should be kept. No other departure has concerned me and I'm glad we got them off the books. If Hughes or Pandur were sold I'd be worried as it makes no sense to do that when we can't spend it. In fact, the sales or non sales of players should put to rest any claims Acun can or can't fund the wage bill. It won't but it should.
Given the EFL are approving each bit of business as part of an agreed business plan - in essence making us demonstrate affordability before signing anything off then I'd have more faith in that than anything Acun decides to do or otherwise.
And if your faith is in that plan you can finally admit we are not about to go bust because Acun and the board have clearly demonstrated an ability to fulfil their obligations for the coming season, hence the amount of 'big wage' signings the EFL have signed off. They ain't signing those off unless they are happy we have cash in the bank and Acun has cash he can put it.
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-city-defiant-after-efl-10436339 Not really worth the wait then. 2 windows as long as we're good. Edit - Oops wrong thread.
I'd love to get promotion sewn up a week before the end of the season and then miss a payment just to watch the EFL bods cry.
Bit harsh to say he sulks I think. Not sure I’ve seen that from him. He isn’t a chest punching, badge kissing, enthusiast, if anything he looks quite introverted, but so what? He looks a player to me, and I think he’ll grow in value. The other issue is that if we can’t bring anyone with a fee in for two windows then all we need is another run of injuries and we’re ****ed. Keep Pandur, keep Kamara, get our heads down and see how we get on until Christmas.
I didn't say we were about to go bust. I said I feared administration if relegated, and not unjustifiably so. We survived relegation remember? I did say it still wasn't gonna be pretty though, even with survival and financially it still isn't. The upheld fee restriction and having to be nannied by the EFL for the foreseeable is proof of that.
Fair enough, maybe sulk isn't the right word. I just don't like what I see with him. I don't believe he is putting 100% in.
I wasn't actually aiming it at you specifically but can see it looked like that so I apologise. I just meant generally people can assume we are now on a safe footing given the fact the EFL are letting us spend what those same people are describing as 'big wages'
I think what we are seeing is the best possible outcome, given the circumstances. We've just replaced big wages with big wages so not adding to the overall liability. EFL involvement does provide some level of reassurance there.
I can see that. I don’t know obviously although I have seen him track back well on some occasions You could be right, but I don’t see it quite that way
In hindsight Giles looked like this a year ago. I just think given we have other winger and 2 quality ones to come back soon I would take a wedge for him.
