As things currently stand we are the 15th richest club in the world in terms of revenue - £321 million. A jump of 29% on the previous year. With Champions League participation this year that is going to increase massively next year. If we manage to get out of the league phase we are laughing.
We could jump above AC and Inter Milan this season in terms of revenue. So when people say "little Newcastle" they are talking crap. We are quietly becoming a financial powerhouse. So all of this nonsense about us needing to sell Isak is exactly that. I think we know why other clubs are scared of us. Given how far we have come in 4 years.
As PSR stands, increasing revenue is the only way to allow us to spend more on players so we should be really focussing on the commercial side (sponsorships, ticket revenue etc) and the academy. You can't rely on competition income. Its a long term approach but it needs doing.
If we get the training kit/ ground sponsorship in place then that will increase our revenue significantly. We've recently unveiled Guinness and we need further sponsorship. Saudi sponsors will be blocked/ scrutinised of course. But we need to sponsor anything and everything.
No. That still allows the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc to hoover up young talent, loan them out to develop, keep any who make it and sell on those that don’t. The alternative, those young players go to another ‘lower’ club possibly one they would otherwise have been loaned out to under the current system (thereby getting the same experience) and if then good enough to be sold to a bigger club (thereby giving the smaller club much needed capital investment) or if not then being retained by that smaller club (thereby smaller club not having to pay bigger club for player) or sold to another club (thereby smaller club receiving some capital input).
Or they could impose a maximum squad size of say 30-35 including players out on loan. With a max squad size of 25 for U21.
We are screwed as this board has reverted back to PSR ****e. We need a "transfer fee agreed and player on way to Newcastle' so bad man.
Or just ban loans then the Chelsea’s etc can’t see it as a way of making money out of young kids which is wrong anyway.
I’ve said this from the get go and it’s happened to a large extent. But I did think our commercial team would be hammering the deals out. The issue again seems to be this review by the PL issue. I’m not aware of any being blocked.
I think loans that are not abused are right for clubs. So completely banning them would hamper everyone. But restricting squad sizes for main and u21 squads would fix it. And limiting how many can be loaned out would also. Problem is the get the change it needs voted in and that’s probably not going to happen.
They will have blocked some or significantly undervalued them. That's one of Man City's arguments in APT
