We'll need another cb then. I can't see EH utilizing a younger player despite there being a couple being ready to be integrated
Even if Lascelles goes, we'd still have Thiaw, Botman, Schar, Burn, Krafth. And then we have the youngsters to step in if required. So I expect we'll be OK. Lascelles has been both an excellent servant and leader for the club. If he were to leave to get more game time elsewhere then he'd have my full blessing and total respect for being a true pro.
They couldn't do a draft system here though as no footballers are intelligent enough to go to university.
PSR should involve clubs having the same wage restrictions as each other. A salary cap in other words. Clubs should also be limited on the number of players they can sign within a transfer window. That would change things significantly.
Roly’s suggestion could cover both issues. Abolish completely the ability for Clubs to loan players out combined with banning buy back clauses on player sales and that would go a long way to stopping the Greedy Six hoovering up talent and stock piling players. Change the psr system to achieve what it purports to do and we would then be a 2 steps closer to a fairer and more competitive PL.
A free market allows the top clubs to hoover up all the talent as they can pay the highest wages. That's the issue.
If the idea of PSR was to improve competition then fine, although you might have to allow teams qualifying for Europe to have a higher cap as they have more games to play so need bigger squads.
Yup. Clubs should be prevented from hoarding players and then loaning them out in perpetuity. Salary caps need to be introduced. That way all clubs can compete on an even keel. The biggest change needs to be agents - They need to be heavily regulated and subject to professional registration in this country. Agents that breach principles of said regulation should be hauled before a disciplinary panel and banned where applicable. Stops chancers like Isak's agent. Speaking of Isak - He's not going anywhere this summer and the club are trying to re-integrate him behind the scenes.
Again, the issue is that allowing certain clubs a higher threshold will mean those that regularly qualify for Europe, i.e. the big six to just keep paying the higher wages to attract the very best.
I think loans are useful ways of getting younger players valuable match time so don’t abolish them but allow them only for U23 players and only allow for 2 seasons.
PSR system is working as intended. Unless it is legally challenged then fundamentally nothing will change.
That is only a matter of time. APT 2 will open the floodgates as it will effectively mean that all sponsors blocked/ undervalued in the last few years will lead to claims against the PL.
US and Canadian League has wage capping But it still involves players being swapped, it just happened to Matty Longstaff
