If we aren’t targeting Burnley and Brentford as winnable games then what are we targeting? Common sense would say beating the teams we expect to be at the bottom of the table is where we’ll pick up points rather than the off chance we take a big scalp. Burnley are really poor they’ve barely strengthened and Brentford is a home game against a team a lot have tipped for relegation. 4 points wouldn’t be the end of the world but we have to look to be beat those around us especially the team we all expect to finish rock bottom.
I get what you’re saying but even a point on Saturday would be a decent result - imo

I’m not getting carried away after Saturday. Finishing 17th would still be a brilliant season.

I still don't get this view tbh, the lad has had poor depth everywhere he's been, maybe he just need an actual strong squad then he will rotate from game to game and in game haha
Add it to the list, Cam:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0105-wink:

He had chances to rotate for the level last season but didn’t. We’ll have to see what he does this season. I have my view and it’s largely backed up by his behaviour throughout his career. But beyond that, rotating in defence isn’t a particularly good idea anyway - where relationships and familiarity as a unit are key.

4 points would be a very good return, never mind 6. We definitely don’t ’really need’ to win them both
No,we don't. We need to be careful in managing our expectations. For a start,we've now played our hand.....Burnley and Brentford will be all over with analysis of our new players, and how to counter them. I'm trying to look at this one match at a time, and thinking about an away point at Burnley, coupled with our performance. When that's done,I'll think about Brentford, who are at home to Villa on Saturday, and see how they are under their new coach.

we only need two more, Lucumi being 20m or so and then the winger who could be 20-30m, then we still haven't maxed it
Point being that we shouldn’t want to max it. We’ve got it easier this season due to the performance in previous seasons - not least the massive sales in 24/25. Once they disappear we’ll be left with an amortisation number that we cannot naturally sustain. If we max out this season, we’ll have to balance the books with big sales in future seasons. Our max number for 25/26 is ‘artificially’ high.

100% mate I think we’d all snap your hand off for 17th! Don’t want to get stuck where we’re needing points from better teams because this league is relentless and we could easily go on a 5-6 game loss streak. I’m sure even Ipswich only won 1 in 14 or something at some point last season, not to mention Southampton. Getting those points banked when we can and allow for losses against the better teams would be ideal

32m euro bid rejected for Fatawu
Would be very pleased with Fatawu or Uche. Uche is a proper wildcard player, can play pretty much anywhere and is so big, strong and fairly quick that he dominates everywhere

I kind of agree but signings going the way they are going, if we get a couple more at that top Lucumi level in, and I think the squad should be expecting more from itself than 17th.

I can't quite believe the ambition being shown.
