I think Cirkin will likely go, the two LBs we have are better imo, no new deal yet and we have Hume, Alderete, Mukiele who can all cover there during AFCON. Just makes sense Phil Smith said that Alese expects to leave due to the competition and needing game time Neil will stay I reckon Roberts I’m not sure Huggins and Seelt likely loaned out if we sign a CB for the latter
Both Huggins and Seelt need to be loaned out and play week in week out can't be having them on the bench with how long both been out injured
I think Cirkin may go. I would be sorry to lose him, but we need to try to cash in, if he isn't going to extend his contract. He joined us to get game time, so I can't see him wanting to run down his contract, if his game time would be limited. I think he'll either sign up and fight for his place or move on. Also, will Patterson be happy to be behind Roefs in the pecking order? There might be some movement there this week. I certainly expect a goalkeeper to move on, whether that's Patto, Moore or Blondy. If Patto goes, I'd go for Johannsen at Stoke. Good way to generate some income without sacrificing quality.
I think it's most likely that Blondy or Moore goes first. Not sure why I think it other than Patterson was first choice for the last three and a bit seasons since regaining it from Hoffman and I think he might still fancy himself to regain the number one jersey. A lot though will depend on how he works with the new goalkeeping coach, if he doesn't improve enough to challenge I can see him moving on for regular game time in January. Moore was always brought in as cover and Blondy as cover and development. Both were/are a long way from being in the first team now and be more likely for a move for more regular chances. Just my opinion though, so I could be wrong.
INCREDIBLE what's happening with Getafe in Spain: They had to sell their best center-back to Sunderland (Alderete) to be able to register players. For the debut, they could only register 13 professional players, the rest were youth academy players. They won 0-2 at Celta de Vigo's home.
We will be fine for the homegrown quota as players like Sadiki, Mayenda, Guiu,Talbi and Diarra don't need to be registered because of their age Think I've counted 13 players that currently will need registered from players that will play that won't be classed as homegrown I do think Patterson neil and cirkin will stay, probably just aaying that because there's been no news on linking them anywhere. There's not an obvious starting spot for Patterson, so can't see him leaving us if he's not guaranteed a starting spot. Exciting to see what we need with the rest of the window, I think 2 new signings as a minimum but I could drf see double that Plenty to be moved on as well which is probably as big a priority
I'm expecting a CB and an attacking/striker winger. That'll do it for me. Then,it'll be a mass exodus of sales, loans and releases before the end of the month.
Big decisions for Cirkin and Neil. I want them to stay and play apart as they are part of the reason we are where we are but I can’t see the Club letting them run down their contracts. Of course it’s their prerogative but the Club has given them opportunities and is the most important thing here. Hopefully they sign the contracts and fight for a place or I think the Club will look to sell this window.
3 actual left backs. Hjelde and Alese are CB’s and Huggins a RB. Probably still one too many so Cirkin looks as though he could be surplus. I’d still keep him if there’s a way though, I think he will step up, he’s much younger than other LB’s, homegrown and definitely won’t head off for AFCON.
Not necessarily the right thread but it involves players so hey ho! On Wilson Isidor - I've seen a lot say its poor goalkeeping (and it was on the whole) but we've seen him do that exact finish twice (at least) now. Also knowing he was very often doing the same in Russia he must be doing something right? It can't always be poor keeping, I think its something to do with him hitting it so early and the keepers are not expecting it.
Here’s a thought. Could Cirkin be converted to that difficult to find left footed winger? Great going forward, puts some great balls into area, scores the odd goal… I’ve heard plenty suggest defending is his weakness, but he could be a winger that’s good at tracking back. I personally think it’s plausible.
