Are you saying that having watched it back? He probably thinks the same now, but as the ball is coming towards him, he probably thought “comfortable tip around the post”until he didn’t. I’ve played and watched cricket long enough to know”that” reaction. Also, it went under his left hand (bottom hand) due to the dip. Had he gone with both, surely it still goes under that hand?

Aye ok. Ball dips very sharply. You can see in his reaction (and watching the slow motion replays) that it moved before it got there. Mowbray and sky said the same. Probably should’ve done better, but it’s moved in the air, you watch cricket, you’ve seen that reaction when a ball unexpectedly dips surely?

What’s cricket got to do with it? <laugh>

I was a GK. the 3rd goal was really poor goalkeeping.

I definitely get that the top spin fooled him but a premier league keeper worth £10m+ needs to be identifying that and saving them.

Spin of the ball. Has everything to do with it. When you expect a ball in a specific position you put the bat there, the ball dips and hits a different part of the bat. The ball dipped. Not sure what is so difficult to grasp about that. He put his hand where the ball would’ve gone if it hadn’t spun, it dipped sharply and went under his hand. BBC commentators said it, sky said it.

well yeh but that was the original point. I’d be disappointed having spent that much money on a keeper to see him concede that goal on debut.

luckily we’ve got a “keeper” of a keeper in Roefs

Yeah he looks the part doesn’t he! Big lad too. Towered over their keeper in the tunnel.

I said we needed to replace Patterson. No room for sentiment. Patto is one of the best shot stoppers in the game. Of that I have no doubt. But his distribution and commanding of his area have been so poor. My dad said “without him we don’t get promoted “ which may or may not be correct, but that doesn’t make him good enough at our new level.

Not only did Shearer arrange to not have to say nice Sunderlanf things, he further drummed it in by using his West ham summary to be little more than '' the result of this football match is purely down to West Ham having a bad second half''

Exactly. Shearer is paid by the BBC so he will be told what he should say and the way in which he says it. The Biased Broadcasting Corporation.

David James just said on 5 live we only won 3-0 because West Ham were so bad and that we’ll probably still struggle and get relegated.

Its going to take a few wins before anyone starts to pay attention.

We wouldn’t want it any other way mate.

The longer folk take to raise their game and respect us, the more early pints we pile up.

    Undercats is fine.

You’re right though. One Swallow does not a Summer make as they say. I’d like to think we can build on the start. Once we win a few then the attitudes will change. The pundits will have said the same about Leicester City in the season they won the Premier League.

His time in Leverkusen was shared with Sunderland’s newly-appointed captain, Granit Xhaka.

“I talked to him and he explained to me about the challenge and why he chose to come here,” Mukiele explained. “When a player like Granit speaks, you have to listen to him with both ears!

“This is one of the reasons why I could really understand this project. It was a long conversation but a good one, because it meant I made the decision really quickly.

“I felt something in my body that said just to go. Don’t look back. This is what I did.”

“Everyone knows that when you get promoted to the Premier League, it is not easy. I believe that we can do something really good.

“Just dream with us. Look forward.”

Shearer has all the charisma of a traffic warden so you think they'd choose someone who would liven things up a bit.

Instead the producers chose Wayne Rooney, a sentient block of ham that makes Shearer look like Eric Morecambe.

Were they scared Weetabix would get overshadowed by a decent presenter?

They had the ball more but we used the ball better is how I viewed it and probably how we should expect us to play all season, suits us perfectly

David James is ignoring the fact they had such a ****e second half is because the lads came out second half and made them look ****e. I assume RLB made some tactical changes cause we dominated that second half and made them look ****e. Maybe they not one of the top teams in this league but I doubt they are relegation a battle team are they? They were made to look like one!
