While the second half was close and they may have just edged it the second half we blew them away! What I liked seeing is they made a few mistakes at the back due to the pressure the lads were putting on them! I've said it before but that was a statement performance yesterday! A lot of promoted teams scrape and battle their first win and any others, the lads dominated and looked comfortably a premier league team yesterday! May well be a one off but I doubt it!
Up until yesterday afternoon Burnley fans will have been thinking that Spurs will be tough but should get three points off us next game. Time for a rethink in Lancashire.
Totally agree with you regarding the West Ham fans, they were spot on before the game with me and the grandson. Wishing us luck for the season but not for that day. Have to admit I've got a new found respect for them
Talksport’s goal show streamed on YouTube - here’s the final 10 mins which is where they’re discussing West Ham being **** and us being good. Also has the moment of Isidor’s goal. Think we’ll surprise a lot this season.
There was absolutely nothing anyone could say to put a dent in that victory. West Ham didn’t have a VAR incident to blame, they didn’t lose an important player to injury and none of the goals had a hint of controversy… … the pundits were all left to admit we were the better team, fully deserved the win and the crowd were magnificent. At Wembley some commentators were harping on about VAR, Hamer and Moore’s blunder … none of that to moan about here. And the fact that no one had a clue about the Lambton Worm made it even better in my opinion, it’s part of our history. I didn’t see the coverage but I bet Sky, BBC, etc didn’t really know how to refer to it, “Errr, well it seems to be about England but they’ve got the dragon all wrong, they’ve brought Palestine into it for some reason and they think some of them are Geordies! Big blunder from the Sunderland media team!”
Totally agree, just hope he can elevate his level like I expect. So many have done that in the first game, can't be underestimated how different this is to last season, we are talking elite footballers, born winners, better coaching and tactics. I got told before kick off that Seelt is the worst centre back in our history, so if he can come back from that with a "solid" 50 minutes, I still believe in this lads! Goes for Neil, Cirkin, Mundle...I believe.
I thought it was class. I think it’s lost online as they only showing the worm itself, whilst of course in the stadium we could see the wording either side of the main banner for context. I loved it.
I knew nationally people would scratch their heads at the Lambton Worm, but its for us and another class touch by the club! They have clearly got people in who know this club and its history loom at tbe shirts and the little touches in every shirt that is a nod to the area, the club and its history class man! And compare that to that ****ing muppet wanting to do away with Dance of the Knights because it wasn't his cup of tea and the ****ing arse licking youngin saying its dreary ****ing no **** all ****ers! Dance ofnthe Knights is class when you have a team and club to be proud of! It just makes you feel like the place is a ****ing fortress, imagine standing in that tunnel now with the cats eyes and that music!
It was a highlight yesterday, the noise when it started. Phenomenal. Can’t remember the last time the club got something wrong man. Everything is just so well done. Here, even the white patch in the back of the shirt actually isn’t offensive at all.
Tell you what mind I’m ****ing knackered this morning. No idea how you lads that drive to away games do it so often. Fair ****ing play. already planning my next trip up but having spinal surgery next month so might not be able to for a while as I won’t be able to sit in the same position for so long in the car
Has important as yesterday was for us to get the show on the road with picking some points up, even this early on we can inflict a mortal blow on Burnley next weekend
Go got Turf Moor with the same attitude we did last season (which we will...trust Reg) and there's every chance we can come home with a good result, mind scoring any penalties this time will be a big help.
