There is good news in that decision to scrap one quango (they have been creating them like crazy). Look how much the Elon Musk war on waste DOGE was going to save ($2tn) and ended up saving bugger all before Musk walked away. I suspect that both had something in common: the people who were being asked to make the savings were also in charge of the money so it just went somewhere else. If they want to drain the swamp then they need someone with an Argentinian chainsaw. We need someone to axe 100,000 civil servants and make the rest show up and earn their pay/pension rises with better productivity. £950 a day was crap money. The guy will no doubt be off to set up his own cryptocurrency: Starmercoin – every day you will be lied to about its value.
There's loads in Portsmouth, mostly Ww1 and 2. The memorial on Southsea seafront is very moving. There's a landing boat from DDay there too now.
