You honestly think we were going sign another marquee striker after bringing in Destan and McBurnie?

We wouldn't have brought in Destan if we realistically thought we could sign both Frigan and McBurnie.

He calls when he wants, he calls when he wants. David Fergus, he calls when he wants.

So what part of my post were you arguing with?

    That FFP isn't a consideration?

That we could sign him if we could by some miracle create sufficient ffp headroom and at the same time render the signing of Destan completely redundant?

Well yeah, technically, but was still never gonna happen.

We had a bid accepted (lower than the fee Parma agreed) and agreed personal terms with Frigan before the fee restriction. All that was left was the medical and him signing the contract. City were clearly confident of getting the deal done and dusted before the news broke so I don’t think it was impossible due to PSR even without the fee restriction.

Pretty sure it was said early on that it would be Frigan or McBurnie not both.

And if we are on the cusp of ffp now, then where would we find the extra headroom? Sell Hughes?

I know they were considering selling Drameh before Jak decided he wanted him.

I’m just going off what my mate told me. He’s the one who also told me that Hadžiahmetović was a target back in June and several weeks later Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported that we had interest in Hadžiahmetović so I’m inclined to believe him.

He said we had a bid of around £6.8 million + add-ons + a hefty sell-on clause accepted by Westerlo and personal terms were agreed in principle with Frigan and his agent in late June. He was due to come to the UK in the first week of July for a medical but that obviously had to be cancelled when it was announced the EFL placed us under a fee restriction for three windows. He also said the club did see about doing a loan deal with Westerlo but it just wasn’t feasible.

Maybe so, but we wouldn't be signing McBurnie as well if we'd got Frigan. We'd have had to structure the window completely differently.

We certainly wouldn't have signed Destan if we were planning on signing both.

Why do you keep coming up with straw man arguments?
I said it depends on the fee and length of contract

Why keep stating the obvious? But his fee would always have been a significant one and we'd want to protect our asset with a reasonably lengthy contract.

Maybe if they'd loaned him to us for a comparatively nominal fee/salary contribution with an obligation next summer, then perhaps it could have been possible.

Still, it doesn't really change the original post in this particular discussion that once we signed McBurnie, with Destan already in the building, it was pretty clear to me that Frigan wasn't going to happen. Regardless of the appeal.

I'd rather state the obvious than make things up.
Obvious alert: Paying £4m for a 4 year contract has a smaller effect on yearly profit than £4m for a 2 year contract.
Web are not talking about massive amounts.

He says whilst making up an entirely fictitious scenario which has absolutely no bearing on Frigan.

    Well it's certainly cheaper.

But yes I know how amortisation works. And FFP.

    That wasn't the discussion though.

If you do know that you must know that the figures per year on the type of money we pay out are pretty small. The rules relate to rolling three year periods anyway.

Which is why i generally refer to the 13m loosely as an 'average', but again, you've waded in on the back end of a specific discussion about whether a quicker appeal decision would have realistically allowed us to go for Frigan after already committing to McBurnie and Destan transfers and gone off on a tangent.

    Again.
