So here we are….after 8 long years we’re finally back! The eve of a new season in the Premiership. Excitement, hope, anticipation has been building steadily ever since Tommy slotted that ball inside the post. It’s been a great close season with some quality additions added to the squad. I’m loving the fact that everyone is writing us off before a ball has even been kicked! Nothing will give me greater pleasure than ramming those pre season predictions back down their throats! Obviously, it goes without saying it’s going to be a tough ask but with all of us backing these lads both home and away, even if the chips are down, we going to give it a bloody good go!

thanks to @RTB for putting together the match day thread to help set the scene. Looking forward to hopefully seeing you tomorrow for a few pre match drinks.

I think tomorrow will be a very emotional day for a lot of fans. Those who witnessed the successive relegations, the lost years in League one, I hope tomorrow is extra special for all of you who stuck by the team through those dark times.

Sing your hearts out! Sing loud and proud and let’s show our new signings what a special club we are and roar them on to victory! Ha’way the Lads!!!

I love hearing that. Obviously they’re aiming higher than 17th. I hope our pessimists, ahem, sorry, realists can have a bit more hope in them this season and not just jump on every mistake!!

That was my only fear signing basically a new team how would our promotion squad feel about having their

noses pushed out of joint we definitely needed competition for places but by god never thought we’d bring in so many so quick

but the vibes are looking good mind

    Capitano.

Xhaka come across the mind of bloke convinces you you can outrun Usain Bolt. Then, when he’s miles ahead, convinces you you’ll catch him. You’d keep running.

It was never in doubt for me we'd get promoted last season. Even before we started <laugh>
As soon as Regis came I just felt he was right and we had the players.

I kept telling myself we were saving ourselves in that run in of losses. Ok my arse was twitching <laugh>

I'm going to stick my neck out and say we'll finish 9th. Heart says higher <laugh>

Amazing to see all the players coming in, if they can gel quickly we could be in for another great season.

Even if we go down, we have now got to the point where we will be strong contenders in the championship with parachute payments.

And the club is run the best I can remember. And hat's off to Bob Murray back in the day.

I know that's a bit tongue in cheek and you're being sarcastic as banter, but you actually make a good point.

Well meaning people, who see themselves as realists, were wrong about us making the Championship and wrong to think we'd fail to go up from it.

The optimists were the ones who were right after all despite 'settling for mediocrity' and being 'part of the problem'.

Turns out we actually could recover momentum, as RLB insisted, and were, in reality, good enough to beat Sheff Utd at Wembley.

Even after we were promoted people were saying we were nailed on for bottom place and behind Leeds and Burnley ...

... that was before we'd even signed anyone but Enzo.

That opinion is slowly changing, I believe, so lets realise we can all just hope for the best and accept there's nothing actually wrong with blind faith.

That has nothing to do with XG, bookies odds or reality ... just a bit of optimism based on wanting us to succeed.

Can I have your dealers number mate?

If we finish bottom, on zero points, we'd have to admit the club couldn't have done any more ...

... I can't even remember thinking that before.

    You know mate, not impossible.

2 of these young lads take to the league the right way and that elevates us. That middle pack from 9-17 is very little in it.

You’re a player having a worldie season away from 3-4 places in table.

I expected a defeat here, so I'm trying optimism... Delusion even.
Win this and 11 points from our first 6 games

If we win tomorrow, we win against Brentford too I think.

If we don’t win tomorrow, we win against Brentford I think.

We definitely won’t lose at Burnley, I think…

    I’m thinking.

If we are all this excited I wonder how the players feel, especially those who were here last season
