I believe it was stated that the transfer could go as high as 10 million so I suppose there were clauses that allowed Wrexham to sign a player for that kind of money. None the less they are spending biggish money to get them to the Prem I assume but I can't explain why it irks me to see other teams approach their business this way. Everything seems off kilter to me and we seem to be on the other side of the expense fence.
Not yet, they were under a slightly different model. FFP is three year rolling so technically they can go for it, but after next season it kicks in. Plus last few seasons, due to sponsorships they have been in the black. This is the last season we can show Alex Scott’s fee on our books. So we can’t spend as much now due to last seasons waste, and needing to replace next season.
Don’t we have that too though, mainly from the Bears, the Flyers, but also concert events and corporate stuff?
NOT THAT SIMPLE .. IN ACT to us could be quite difficult to unravel................... umbella is Bristol Sport! so starters say................... we want to support RUGBY/FOOTBALL so some parts can be separated and part not drifting to the other to give "free" exposure! etc etc
Let’s hope so But look at where little Bournemouth are now, they are an established Premiership club, whereas when I was growing up they were always a 3rd or 4th Division team Are Wrexham destined to do the same ?
No. They gambled big time - hugely overspent - but avoided FFP by achieving promotion. Their ground doesn’t hold many more than the Mem - yet they cream off OUR players like Kelly, Semenyo etc. They don’t deserve respect for PLAYING their way into the Premiership. They BOUGHT and GAMBLED their way there.
Concerts and Bears don’t go to us as City don’t own the ground. Goes to another part of Bristol Sport, like we pay rent on the ground. I believe it’s set up that we can’t be booted out though.
when you get there [prem ] you need to just need to aim to average + get over year 1 & 2 dont try and get into the big time to quickly or the TV MONEY and odd add ons wont be enough to support the wage bill.. that is the killer for FFP!!!!!! TAKE KONE! WE SHOULD HAVE! .... QPR will give him a season or 2, then sell ? [or maybe stumble into the prem! ] AS snapped up for a reasonable fee and doing well and valued at £50M+ [WE WONT SEE a fee ] as they progress and sell the odd player and turn down bids it is like getting a new player in worth £50m! Brownhill the same plus a couple others ............... family silver players!
12 games is a good yardstick 36 points up for grabs and above 21 points doing well above 23 points very well and above 26 is top 2 EOS
Last season the points total needed was historically low, it’s unlikely to be so low again. It’s never a bad thing to not lose, but realistically we need to win more this season to be in with a chance again.
yep ....... last season Sunderland won 21 and lost 12 ..... we lost 12 but drew 4 more = 8 points. quickly racking brain and doing a little research we likely lost at least 8+ points, in et, points that could have been avoided, however flip side we got a couple et points so swings and round abouts! this season my assessments, still in progress till end of window.. [manager/transfers in/ transfers out historical fact, teams previous 4 years results etc ] have to add as better than average teams like charlton/birmingham/millwall/ wrexham/stoke/derby. others doing well in market from 24/25 WBA /QPR/PORTSMOUTH .............. join the dangers RUBEN SELLES I DONT THINK WILL MAKE PAST JANUARY? sheff wed shows up as losing out on 29 of their games winning 3 SO WE WONT GET AWAY LIKE LAST SEASON ... THIS SEASON LOOKING AT 76 POINTS FOR 6TH!!!!!!!!!!! TOP TEAM MIGHT MAKE 90 23rd 44 teams 8 to 17th looking like GD's we will see. LAST 4 OR 5 YEARS FORCAST has been pretty accurate!
