Does anyone else get the impression that if Newcastle sign Ramsey and Wissa we'll be done this summer? Even if Isak is sold? I think that's highly possible... Not long left we'd be looking OK and it's only a few months or even a year until the next opportunity.
It would be perfectly understandable, but it won't go down well. Some fans cannot see past the next few months or season/s If they spunked it they'd criticise it when no money was available in the future. Getting it right is more important than ever with psr.
I don't see a major problem. We have improved at GK, CB & RW plus midfield, if we get Ramsay. Wissa in is great back up and if we sell Isak then it's money in the bank for future windows and an opportunity to give the likes of Neave & Seung-Soo a chance. Overall, the outcome of the window isn't looking too bad. It's the circus around it that makes it feel negative. Especially with Isak..
Suspect you’re right. Disappointed at Kalimuendo, thought that was a simple punt. And it’s obviously disappointing that we have no depth to the scouting - it’s not as if Pedro, Ekitike and Sesko were particularly clever “finds”. The likes of Woltenade, Kilicsoy, Boniface, Openda appear utterly fanciful but it baffles me how we’ve either a) completely ruled all of them out after scouting, or (more likely) b) simply haven’t scouted them.
Think it's possibly best if you make an understanding with yourself that just say's "we don't take punts". We need every transfer to work out at the moment as we don't have the financial wiggle room. When we've taken punt's they've resulted in Osula, Ashby, Vlachidimos, Kelly, Wood.
Newcastle have over achieved and when they inevitably fall back in line, it's going to get nasty unfortunately. It's made apparent when they keep pointing at league positions as if we've cemented ourselves as a top 6 club. The truth is we're not... We'll have bad times and good times.
The truth is a core group of about 15 players have ran themselves ragged season after season. What this window has done is give us depth. Which in turn will hopefully turn into a higher points haul.
Agree with this but if we dont get a midfielder or 2 and a striker to replace Wilson (ignoring Isak situation) then we will have left ourselves short again but this time in the most critical area of goal scoring.
They’ve gone about it quietly but when you look at a 2nd team now including:- Pope Trippier Schar Burn Targett Miley Willock Ramsay Barnes Murphy Possibly wissa it’s looking like a team that could hold its own from about mid table and below.
