I'd like to see Spence given a try at RB under Frank before making any judgement.

There is also the issue of Archie Gray and which position he/we intend to make his permanent one.

"In medical terms, the operation succeeded...but the patient died."

    Frank's post match analysis.

    You’re not alone in that.

He’s a hard worker but his career is what it is for a reason

Disappointing result but good performance. Just run outta legs. TBH I expect a result like we had v Harry Kane FC last week.
A decent end to pre season.

The second half shows the limitations of the squad depth so will hopefully strengthen any arguments re needing new signings.

Am excited to be going on Saturday

I said towards the end of last season I don’t think he’s quite ready for the first team, especially in his preferred DM role, showed great versatility but he wasn’t dropping great performances if we’re honest, few glimpses of his potential but nothing too concrete. I don’t think it’ll happen but I really think we should consider loans for him and Odobert, better to give them 30+ starts somewhere than likely scraps here, neither are ready to be starting regular matches in the Prem or CL, nor is Tel tbh but I think he’s slightly ahead in development than both, albeit has largely disappointed when played.

In fact Bergvall’s the only youngster so far who looks genuinely ready for regular first team minutes.

    I'd agree with that.

He was asked to do an almost impossible job last season, and he coped well for the most part but I felt it was too soon in his development.

The only issue with the loan is where would you send him?

Based on what we’ve seen so far, I’ve been much more impressed with Odobert than Tel. One has had a big injury, and the other struggled with match sharpness, but there’s been glimpses of an exciting player in Odobert. I’m not sure what Tel has in his locker yet or how he fits in.

    Its not that we lost

its the manner in which we lose

the outstanding fashion of our capitulation

I have faith that Frank will give it his all in eradicating this but by God we are never far away from turning to ****

    very uncomfortable feeling

one we have become accustomed to though

Yeah it’s hard to argue with that.

We’re in a difficult spot right now with these young players because they need to play in order to develop but are considerably off the level needed to play for us right now.

I don’t think last night was spursy, at all to be honest. Not in the capitulating/bottling sense, anyway. We looked like the CL winners for most of the game. The defence was superb for all but 1 moment of tiredness/lack of concentration, and there was some other brilliant individual performances. Probably Richarlisons best game in a spurs shirt, and the same for Sarr.

The spursyness came when we were met with our old nemesis “strength and depth”, which reared its ugly head, and has frequently done so in the past. Oh to dream of a season where we have the large majority of our signings made before the season starts, and a preseason together with the rest of the squad! Pigs might fly.

    This 100% :emoticon-0148-yes:

There are far more pluses than minuses from that game - not only in some superb personal performances but also in helping to identify the key weaknesses.

There isn't one of the starting 11 who didn't perform at their best, some exceeding what we have sent previously from them.
The subs were a disappointment I have to agree, but it would always be difficult to enter such a game when your team is tiring against one of the best teams in world football.

I fear that Tel thinks he is a better, more complete player than he actually is, whereas Odobert believes he needs to develop. Too early to write off either and I think/hope that both will prove to be assets

I think we are being unfair on Tel and Solanke. Both came on too late (imo) and when they did the pattern was set and we were under siege, nothing but scraps for them to feed off. More worried about Gray's impact. Should have been meat and drink to him, but seemed peripheral when he came on.

It's comical how quickly the media jumped on the opportunity to stick the fork in and mock us for the result.

Just reading the headlines, you'd think we lost to Wingate & Finchley.

Solanke looked miles off of match fitness.

I agree re Tel but Kudus showed a side to the game that Tel simply doesn't have as he isn't strong enough. I think Odobert can develop in that direction, but the former Bayern player needs to work out what his playing style is and stick to it. Seems all over the place to me.

As you say, the pattern was well and truly set and being as that was the case, we needed defensive subs to come on. But apart from a young DM and an ageing LB, we had no one on the bench and this will be a massive problem whenever Frank wants to play 3ATB - he'll have all 3 senior CBs on the pitch at the same time.

Udogie's return will help, but Dragusin is months away from a return. I'm not sure why we are targeting multiple attackers but seemingly leaving CB and FB neglected.

Where as Luis Enrique, who actually knows football, gave a very fair and respectful analysis of the game, saying we were the better side and that PSG were very lucky to win it.

    Awful but not surprising.

People online have got far too comfortable saying horrible things.
