Last seasons transfer business in and of itself wasn’t a disaster anyway. Zambrano, Burstow and Joseph were pretty poor signings as was shipping out Giles and Omur in January. As for the rest I think we’ve brought in some really pretty decent players. The big problems were signing Tim Walter in the summer and in January not getting a big target man to battle for all the hoof balls we were trebucheting up the pitch all game long, or a left back. I guess you could argue appointing Selles instead of those last 2, I do think he’d have got more out of a squad that was built more for his dire negative hoofball.
And he wouldn't be alone, they use Transfermarkt too but like leading academics sometimes use Wikipedia as a starting point, that's all it is, a starting point. None would recommend a signing or base their reputations on that alone, not without a lot of independent groundwork. It's quite cute you think that's significant though.
If we're selling kamara for the fee we paid for him we're making a profit for PSR purposes. Burstow if he has a good season in L1 will absolutely go for more than the 1-2m we paid for him. Oh OK so now we're guessing on alzate. I'm not ignoring anything ffs you're making a daft point.
Just when you think it couldn’t get any more boring between Shark and Orange, Syd turns up to prove it can.
You said, we'll likely make a profit on everyone when we've paid a fee for over the last 2 windows bar Joseph. That's simply wrong. Well £3.5m is nearly £4m and we paid £1.5m for Barry inc wages so my maths is good thanks
But we haven't paid 2.5m for Joseph have we? And last I checked everyone so far signed on permanents then sold for fees has turned a profit, so until that doesn't continue let's not go into a full blown meltdown as you seem intent on doing. You are absolutely deluded when it comes to transfers and how difficult setting up a successful squad is, so the irony of you blaming someone else for playing football manager is crazy.
And you think that wasn't his market value? Because as is in the public domain, and the owner has reiterated multiple times, he agreed that deal, not the guy who coordinates scouts and deals with academy and U21 contracts for the most part, as was Dublin's role at the time.
I don't think any non parchute club should be paying a 7 figure loan fee for a half season loan. I've no clue what you mean about Dublin as he never came to the club as Head of Academy Recruitment. The Zambrano & Puerta deals have his pawprints all over them as they were similar types of signings he was known for at Stoke.
If ever we needed a clear example of why patience is needed with attacking talent not turfing them each year, take a look at Twine at Bristol City. Old Turkey teeth claimed he wouldn't get ten goals over a season. Looks to be on his way.
It is pretty easy to be fair. Just loan out anyone that didn’t perform well last season and just sign 12-15 new players. All young players with resale value. And no loans. Whats so difficult about that?
It was rising to 2.5 with add ons. As you rightly state, getting our money back on Kamara not only is effective profit for FFP purposes and removing future wage liability, he will also go with add ons that given his age and talent, there's a good chance we'll profit from those down the line.
Absurdly simple. And because every other club in the league is standing still it means we're guaranteed promotion. Why hasn't acun thought of it?
It was a classic case of over-expectation for him here. He'd been out a long time and because he didn't score one of his first 5 free kicks and none of our ball shy centrehalves got anywhere near his corners (like they didn't for anyone else either) then he got written off by the fans and it unsettled the player. He was also brought in as a 10 but played mostly left. The owner took notice and we got Zaroury for the same money, which went well. (ahem). To be fair, he wasn't an immediate success at Bristol either. Was out for a while IIRC and it's taken a bit of perseverance in a stable environment, but he's starting to fulfil his undoubted potential and look a cut above in the championship. Who'd have thought, eh? Feel it's a similar story for Kamara here. We are not a good environment for him to fulfil his potential at the moment. But if we recoup our fee and have a stake in his future, then it's probably a win win.
If we get the same punishment as Oxford it will be reduced to one window, but suspended for 2 years. It would allow us to pay fees again, but doesn’t mean we will (or should).
