Maybe, but that's after we play 3 or 4 games. I don't think we can count on making too many signings at the end of the transfer window.
Not that he's persuaded Ukraine to surrender in his supposed 4 or 5 day "special military operation". Trump will do his usual "cave" though and try to sell the Ukraine out this Friday.
The rumour was, the 49ers wanted to take a more statistical based approach to signing players which was right up Underwoods street. When you’re approaching a transfer window after being promoted to the PL you do everything you can to keep those that signed and sold the players that got you there Then to top it off, according to Ell Underwood was on holiday last week
Thing is, why did we waste time in the first instance. Before the window opened, we should have approached these players and said, do you fancy joining us once the window opens. If they say yes get the job done, if they say no move on. Muniz £40m we say no and move on, not wait 6 weeks for the club to lower the price
Thats called tapping up and is illegal. You need the selling clubs permission to speak to a player. They wont give permission until they have spoken to the player themselves. Im convinced Leeds will have spoken to alot of players and agents since we were promoted. We know Leeds spoke to Diarra who went to Sunderland because they offered more money. We know Leeds enquired about Milinkovic-Savic but he wanted Napoli and Champions League. We know Leeds met with Paixoa's representatives but he wanted Marseille and Champions League. We know Leeds have spoken to El Khannouss agent to see if he wants to come and that one might come off. It feels like you are saying 'why try for the good players?'. If you dont try, you dont get.
I question the approach, the Red Bull scouting network, the entire setup. First three signings, two big CBs and a free injury prone striker, do we really need two new CBs or is it a luxury when we’re extremely weak in the FB positions Stach and Longstaff, good signings, I’m fine with those two. It feels like all the rumours are actually players whose agents have approached us, have we done any scouting. If Farke wants Hamer why have we delayed, if he wanted the Leicester guy activate the clause and get him at a table We tell Bamford find a new club and we sign another free injury prone striker. What are we paying underwood for, something just feels all wrong with this transfer window
Yeah, I think that's frowned on as "tapping" a player up. I'm sure though that clubs do make contact with players' representatives before transfer windows open up, but players probably never say "no" before they hear all their options. We spent weeks trying to persuade Muniz to come to Leeds only to find that he really preferred Serie A.
I understand the frustration but it's not as simple as activating a clause and getting it done, especially when you are a newly promoted club. We met El Khannouss team and told them what we would pay him, explain the project etc. However, his agent has probably got the nod from Palace, Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle that they may be willing to give European football and higher wages if certain deals go through. For example, Maddison injury, Spurs look at Eze, Spurs look at El Khannouss, Palace look at El Khannouss to replace Eze, Newcastle trying for Leon Bailey but 2nd choice is El Khannouss etc etc. If i'm El Kanouuss agent, I have to tell my client that we can add an extra 50% to the Leeds offer and European football with bigger bonuses if we wait a couple of weeks. That leaves Leeds waiting. Its not ideal for Leeds but we are the small fry this summer. We have to wait for the 'bigger' clubs to sort their **** out before we can pick through the bins. The alternative is we go and bully the Championship and get Sargent, Hamer, Rudoni and go the Ipswich route. So far we've not had too much success but we weren't supposed to get Raphinha yet we were patient and got him. We got Gnonto last minute after the Gakpo fiasco.
Tbh, I think we need 5 center backs, but yes, we do need a second LB in my opinion. I'm sure that we've scouted the current market of available players to death. I'm not sure Farke is completely sold on Hamer. I certainly am not and neither are many other fans. There is no point in triggering a player's release clause if he does not want to sign for you What going on is the Leeds United recruitment team are try to persuade Bilal El Khannouss that Leeds is the best option for him. Unless that is satisfied, there is no point in triggering any release clause. It doesn't feel wrong to me. DCL is a big upgrade on Bamford IMO. Which striker would you rather sign who is both available and wants to come to Leeds ?
Wasn’t really clear from your reply. I accept it’s difficult to recognise nuance on a written post hence the thumbs up beer emoji on mine.
