Dunno if anyone else reads the Sky Sports transfer centre regularly. If so, have you noticed how regularly clubs are being linked with Irish league and Non-league players? Seems to be on a daily basis. I know a lot of clubs became aware of Ireland after the success of Kevin Doyle and then Shane Long and Shamus Coleman. The kid McClean for Sunderland at the weekend looke another good prospect. Not sure what's sparked the interest in Non-League players? Seems clubs are looking a lot lower down the ladder.
there is alot of unTapped quality at the the lower levels and now that most clubs have no money this area is long overdue for a return. many of the games past greats came from the lower leagues, some of them went onto perform in the top league here First Divison Now the PL. Cyril Regis - Ian Rush - Steve Coppell - Gordon Hill - Kevin Keegan are just 5 from yesteryear. Now Even Chris Smalling was a non league player less than 3 years ago.
I think that Mclean looked excellent for the Mackems at the weekend and he only cost them £350k in the summer.
MATT TUBBS from Crawley Town would be a good No.2 striker addition for Hull City at not alot of money. Another Rickie.Lambert in the making. imo.
He's certainly got a good record at Crawley, but at 27 he hasn't got long to achieve what Rickie Lambert has (who's only 2 years older)
maybe true. but surely worth a risk for the money he would cost. for one thing he moves quicker than Dele. Maybe City can offer James Harper to Crawley as part of the deal. ?
In response to the OP, this is the reason bigger clubs are looking at the Irish League and Non-League players. Not everyone wants to wait until the Sheff. Wednesdays and Huddersfields of this world are selling the same players for £2million +. I just hope City have wised up and are doing the same.
adam pearson is no fool when it comes to player recruitement. AP would also know of alot of NP / SW targets and now he has NB wish list. it surely cannot be that hard to find the right 2 or 3 that most of us feel is all that is needed now.
As I've said in the previous few threads, Liam Hearn is a prime example of somebody we could take on for a small transfer fee. The lad Marc Pugh at Bournemouth is doing alright as well...
Been waiting for a topic like this to pop up cause i didn't wanna get laughed at but since the summer I've been following a lad called Eamon Zayed who plays for Derry City, won the PFAI player of the year award, helped Derry into Europe and bagged 23 goals last season. Big strong target man, brings others into play and knows where the net is. Sound like the profile quite a few have been asking for and id have thought he'd be gettable for relative buttons. COYH
Just checked his wiki, seems like a decent larker but for him to not get anywhere near the Ireland team after representing them at all the youth levels suggests there's something wrong (complete speculation of course) Other than that the issues are that he's off to the African Cup of Nations with Libya (not that they should get too far) and that he was at Leicester! We'd never here the end of it from them twats about us having another one of their cast offs!! [NSFW]OK he only played for them at youth level, so did Tomlin who got Peterborough's equaliser against them. Good spot BFT wonder if our scouts have ever heard of him or looked at him?[/NSFW]
teddy sheringhams lad (also at ballmouth) is worth keeping an eye on. maybe sign him and loan him back there ? looks class and a chip off the old block so far.
dont city already have a scouting presence over there already ? if he is that good then i guess clubs have him on the radar already. but sounds promising and as you say would not cost much and we have a good irish presence at the club already.
