    Yep!

    My only main concern is that we'll struggle for goals when Ba and Maiga leave for the ACoN. Nobody start with this Best and Shola will deliver the goods tosh! They won't! 6 games can make or break a season and I hope we can cope in that time.

    Don't know why I'm being such a doom monger at the moment though <laugh>

    It will be interesting to see how Ben Arfa and Best do together, I think they could strike up a good partnership. No offence to Demba and Maiga but I'll still be hoping their teams crash out early so we can get them back haha.

    That partnership could be interesting but we'll have to wait and see whether it produces goals! Well we managed to do it last season WITHOUT Ben Arfa and Ba so maybe it won't be so bad this time around!

    Oh absolutely , I think everyone will want them to go out in the group stages although Tiote and Ivory Coast could go all the way.

    And Ba , Maiga and Tiote should be used as subs in the last 5 minutes of games!

    I have faith in Best, even though he wasn't scoring for a bit of time, he was still getting some assists and making goals so that's good enough.

    Howay man get off the guy's back. He hasn't even signed and you're setting him up for failure. I'm delighted with this signing. Delighted. I'm not worried about him whatsoever, we wanted him in the summmer didn't get him and have still come back for him again on Carr's advice. That should be good enough for all of us. Give the lad a chance, I don't see why some people are getting on his back already, his goal scoring record is fine, he has age on his side. He's strong, quick - he'll be fine. Him and Ba will be a real handful so let's get off the guy's back now and for the first few months or else we won't see the best of him. Oh and look up the goal scoring exploits of other similar type Ligue 1 strikers who have gone on to play in the Prem, such as Adebayor and Drogba, and then maybe refine your opinion <ok>. This guy is built for the premier league, let's hope he takes to it like a duck to water (a la Demba Ba) and doesn't take a few months (a la Drog, Adebayor). What'smore, Drogba in his peak created just as many as he scored. Maiga could be perfect foil for Ba who is quite clearly a 15 goal a season man.

    He's definitely player who plays on confidence and confidence plays a bigger role than most people think. Yakubu is a perfect example. Manager has faith in him and he goes out , pressure off as not much was expected of him and is scoring for fun now! Not exactly the same player that was playing for Leicester City last season!

    I sold Best & bought Jelle Vossen on Football Manager, having now played 28 hours of FM I am of course a world renowned footballing god with more footballing knowledge than the entire Newcastle coaching staff. <ok>

    Bump.

    Came across Maiga's "poor record" this season in France. He's made just 5 starts and scored 4 goals. The club are hardly playing him since his strike.

    Netting four goals in his first three games, since a deal was apparently cut with Newcastle in mid-October, he's made two league starts and a pair of sub appearances without troubling the scorers.

    Best only scores with Shola alongside him, but when they do play together his goalscoring record is good.
    Don't have the exact stats but that's my experience.

    I thought this, he was one of the top scorers at the start of the season then just stopped playing.

    doesnt mean Shola is the only player in the world who can set up Best. he could be prolific played alongside HBA, we havent tested it out though.

    As soon as he went on strike they put him in the reserves and barely play him now. People just assumed that because he only has 4 goals he must be crap.
