Pope Livramento Botman Thiaw Hall Guimareas Tonali Joelinton Gordon Elanga Isak Subs Ramsdale Schar Trippier Burn Ramsey Barnes Wissa Miley Murphy If only isak wasn't being a dick.... Still 2 or 3 short imo on that bench, but that's so much better
Ramsdale's barely good enough for the first team let alone both. I would love it, just love it, if the club bought a phenomenal number 9 out of nowhere plus added a decent support striker then hauled Isak off (preferably to Barca).
Still lacking something for me... All a bit pedestrian apart from Livramento and the front 3...if our moves break down and they get in between the lines we're ****ed almost every single time.
We've had this and will always do so under Howe, he's never going to get a Cherki player, but we are missing magic. From what I watched in pre-season, we had gone backwards tactically. Very ponderous, sideways, hoping to be able to counter. That killed us last season with the likes of Forest, Bournemouth, etc., happy to let us have the ball and hit us with our huge lack of pace. I was hoping to see something in pre-season that addressed it, but I'm really concerned that Howe sees something in this 5-4-1 that nobody else can - it looks even worse. Wissa, just a striker, not solving the issue. Elanga doesn't solve the issue, neither does Ramsey. Everybody has that locksmith in their team at the top of the table - City now have about 3 or 4, even Man U recognised the need with Cunha. Those players tend to be coached on the continent or in South America, and I just can't see us getting a leftfield creative talent out of the blue, it's always 'characters' (confirmed again by Pope this week) and grafters. Personally I think we need an adaptable 'false 9' as well as a proper CF. If it's Wissa for CF, that's fine for now, but we need to get a real talent and Kilicsoy (or Woltenade) would be my choice.
We do seem to avoid anything even remotely exciting in that way, but it's working, so far. Perhaps the foundations are still being assembled before they add in the 2 or 3 really stand out players?
How the **** do you come to that conclusion? What tells you we're relaxed about it? I'd be very surprised if it's not the thing we're least relaxed about.
Nicked off a mate Sky reporting that we have permission from Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City to buy Ramsey. Just waiting to hear back from Chelsea to see if they want him before proceeding with agreeing a fee and personal terms. Wouldn’t surprise you would it?
