Walton 7, didn't have much to do to be honest Young 7, better than Johnson Wolfy 6, mehhhh Kipre 7, ok Leif 5, looks disinterested and poor Humphreys 6, mehhhh Barbrook 6, steady but uninspiring Chaplin 5, poor kept giving ball away Clarke 5, too lightweight and low in confidence Ogbene 6, needs a run of games, not match fit AAH 1, get this joker out of our club, attitude stinks, not good enough, unfit!!
Was this the team to put out when we are low in confidence, need a win desperately. Think KM got this wrong again, I don't give a **** about the cup but we need to start winning!;
Hate to see a scapegoat. It’s an abysmal start to the season and there’s at least one manager and twenty players at fault for that.
Very early in the season but Southampton appears massive. We need to get into the winning habit as quickly as possible - tonight felt like an ideal opportunity to be honest. Another signing before the weekend to help appease the fans?
Sounds like we're in a really tough position at the moment. Lots of players wanting to jump ship, lots of injuries and a lack of cohesion on the pitch. Agree with Nuggets it really did feel like the days of Paul Cook. Looking back at cup competitions in our promotion seasons we had worse players in the team but even our second string looked far more cohesive than that. We're only 2 games in but I'll repeat what I said at the start, I'm not sure how we've been made favourites for the title this season. Jack Clarke looks a shadow of the player he was a couple of years ago, he was awful yesterday. He's a player like a few others who looks like he's only in the team because of the price tag we've paid for him and unfortunately the player who he's replaced in the team who was our top scorer last time in the championship and looks the better player wants to leave because he's not getting in the team. The management of the squad hasn't been as good as it could've been over the past couple of seasons. It wasn't great from Al Hamidi last night but I also think he's been judged quite harshly the past couple of seasons. This time 2 years ago he was playing at League 2 level and he came in and made a significant contribution to our promotion season and we've probably since relied on him more than we should for a club in our position. I thought last night positionally he took up some good positions and made some good runs and on the positives at least he was there to miss. Unfortunately it does feel like he has lost a bit of his energy which endeared him to fans when he first signed maybe the experience of the last 12 months like a few of the squad hasn't been the most positive. I thought Young stood out as the player with quality and calmness on the ball. I also was pleased to see Chaplin starting to link well with Ogbene, who I finally started to see the kind of runs as to why he was considered a replacement/competition for Burns. Chaplin gave the ball away at times but I also thought he played some lovely passes getting players in behind and sometimes thats the risk you take when making those sort of passes. He also took up some good positions in and aroind the box. We lacked those qualities in the team on Friday, without Broadhead and Chaplin in the team we seem to lack the ability for those through balls and players picking up those pockets of space. Loads of work to do if we're going to be near the top of the championship.
Hutchinson doesn’t want to play. Broadhead called in sick on the day of the match. An absolute farce. The look on player’s faces even after they’d scored their penalties was telling. Despite what McKenna says, this is not a club where everyone is pulling together to achieve a single aim. It’s a club battered and bruised. Fingers crossed that Cajuste and Akpom can come in against Southampton and help us regain the winning feeling on Sunday.
Well, a rare bit of good foresight from me. Appears to be a sense that not everyone in the club is pulling in the same direction again (Hutchinson sized hole in the squad yesterday) and we are certainly much less than the sum of our parts, although given our "performances" in cup competitions over the seasons, it's hard to escape the feeling some of it is deliberate. Need a positive result and performance against Southampton, get the season jump started
I didnt watch the game but it was clearly not the result or performance we needed. The energy, teamwork, patterns of play, partnerships all over the pitch have gone. Confidence is shot. Although most of our new players weren't on the bench, it is likely the summer transfer window did not deliver in key positions soon enough to allow pre season training and time together. Morsy walking away without a fresh strong midfield in place. Two professional footballers at the club Hutch and Broadhead appearing on strike, ill, not in the right place. All seems rather flat on the pitch and in the Club, after the rigours of relegation and a rebuild. The depressing start doesn't augur well, but lets remember the remarkable goodwill the club & players have generated in the last seasons. Lets be patient, give them time, and continue our support. As I have said, lets judge end September.
1 draw and a weakened team lose in the cup..............and suddenly the clubs rotten to the core, Players not interested yadda yadda yadda. How fans can think they are loyal supporters when after a bit of a 'meh' start they turn on players, coaches, owners and each other is the main reason i find many football fans to be hypocrites at best but probably down right ignorant.
Bromley - winning their first League Cup match after decades of part time status - were also starting several reserves last night as well, by the way. We’re not “rotten to the core”, far from it. We all lived through the Marcus Evans era for an immediate reminder of how low a badly managed side can sink. But it’s hard to sit back and say everything looks fine when we’ve won once in 2025, got a few want away players staying away from the team, and the performances on the pitch have been so flat for many months now. We all still support the club and want what’s best for this team. I’ve got faith we’ll turn it around and compete for automatic promotion. But I don’t think it’s hypocritical to criticise what we’ve seen so far.
According to KMc Hutch took no part last night as Omari felt he "couldn't contribute to the match"!Presumably he'll be returning his salary for the period he feels that way?!I think that's the closest he's ever come to throwing a player under the bus and displays his frustration with the situation.
