That was done by text. He'd ran out of credit after calling Barmbs, Hobbs, Chez, Rosey and Dudge. Don't believe me then just ask the friend to the stars!!
He came on versus Watford at 2-2 and we got the winner with Dele playing well. He came on versus Forest at 0-0 and we got the winner with Dele playing well. He started versus West Ham and we played very well as a full team in the first half especially. He also started against Blackpool and we played well against them too. He's often part of a team that plays well, probably because he forces the opposition to defend another option.
Dele's played in ten games this season, he had a very positive impact in the Watford and Forest games and was part of very good first half performance against West Ham, but he was largely anonymous in the other games(personally, I didn't think he was particularly good against Blackpool). He can do a job in certain games, but he's slow and is poor with the ball at his feet, I'll be surprised if we see much more of him to be honest, I don't think Nick rates him and with another striker due to arrive next month, he's not likely to get much of a look in(he's already not made the bench for several games, even before the new striker comes in).
He surely can't expect anything else at his age. It's not reasonable, unless you are an exceptional talent like Deano was, and lets be fair, he most certainly isn't.
It's unfair to criticise him, we signed him as a bit of a last resort. To bring him on when we were running out of options in games so we have something different when we want the win, he's done his job in that respect and i can't imagine he's on much wage wise. He was never going to be much better than he's been for us, i hope we get someone in though. I'd rather not need Adebola, but at the moment he's our only backup striker, unless you include Garcia and Pusic when he's back, which i suppose Nick does looking at the bench on Saturday.
I realise the job he was brought in to do, but there were players available with little or no fee involved that I think would have been far more useful, Chris Iwelumo, Darius Henderson, Marlon Harewood etc.
Dele Adebola is a victim of the 5 subs rule now. With Garcia fit and Brady now available again for saturday that will push him further down the pecking order. I expect TC to make way for Brady against Millwall. Dele Adebola can be a game changer but only near the end. But the football that NB has city playing now, then maybe route 1 is a thing of the past ? time will tell.
All depends on where Barmbs thinks we need strengthening not exactly giving much away is he, but i think its safe to say we'l get a striker or maybe 2 in. Ched evans would be my choice but Davies at barnsley is a good second choice, i cant see the Sharp deal happening. Chris wood would be a good target too depending on how West Brom see him fitting into there plans. Cant see us signing a midfielder, but if the worst came to the worst and Koren left george boyd down at pboro impressed me as well as mcann id take them both. the keeper situation needs sorting out definatly need a permanant signing to add stability, De vries has been mentioned but would Wolves release him with no backup, the Joe lewis situation down at pboro is interesting hes having trials with qpr because pboro want to cash in in january as his contract runs out in the summer, pulled off some corking saves against city id take him. i think we'l just sign the one striker and a goalkeeper Ched Evans and Joe lewis would be nice.
I've been thinking about what sort of striker/defender etc could improve us, but maybe we could really use a goalkeeper? Gulacsi is playing a little better now, but a top notch (for the championship) goalkeeper between our sticks could really give our promotion hopes a shot in the arm. We score freely under Barmbs, but a few more clean sheets would maybe turn our defeats into draws or even better!
I agree. Good value for money and a good clubman. Never let us down. May be limited by his age, but so is Chris Chilton and he's a God to us. Dele has always tried, unlike (for example) that overpaid tosspot Bullard.
Yes, but for whatever reason they didn't come to us, so harsh to blame the one guy who did. Blame the manager who bought him if you must, but big Dele does do what it says on his tin (if you scrape the rust off).
Sorry I forgot to mention, I was talking about actual games that happened. Not mythical opinions created months before he ever played for us. This is about right, but it doesn't make Dele a bad striker. He was signed to carry us through to this point, he was never going to be a long-term option.
