please log in to view this image The club announced a 22 man squad for this match: Keepers: Vicario, Kinsky, Austin. Defenders: Porro, Spence, Romero, van de Ven, Danso, Udogie, Davies. Midfielders: Palhinha, Bissouma, Gray, Bentancur, Bergvall, Sarr. Forwards: Kudus, Johnson, Odobert, Tel, Richarlison, Solanke. Thomas Frank has since ruled out Udogie due to fitness and Bissouma due to repeated lateness. I assume that these numbers will be bolstered with some youth players. PSG will be without Donnarumma, Neves and Mayulu. This is due to being left out, suspended and injured, respectively. Ref: João Pinheiro (POR). VAR: Tiago Martins (POR). Pinheiro was in charge of our 2nd leg victory over Alkmaar in March. TV: TNT Sports 1. How would you like to line up for this one and how do you think we actually will line up?
Interesting pre match comments from Davies. Sounds like Frank is the polar opposite to Ange. He adapts and changes his tactics depending on the opposition, as opposed to trying the same formula over and over again and then expressing sheer surprise when it didn't work.
First shiny shiny trophy up for grabs this season. Whatever formation/tactics necessary to win. Any observable hints about the managers' CL humiliation mitigation strategy this season will be a bonus.
Think I’d go with: Vicario Porro, Romero, Danso, van de Ven Bentancur, Palhinha, Sarr Kudus, Richarlison, Johnson Not sure on Solanke’s fitness and the debate I had in my head was Spence or Danso in the back line, went with the latter just to give us a bit more of a defensive presence against what is probably the best attack in world football right now.
Bissouma left at home for continual lateness , he had the same problem under Ange , get rid and get someone who wants to play for the club
I like Spurs at 5:1! 4:1 no. Vicario Porro Romero VDV Spence Bergvall Sarr Bentancur Kudus Solanke Odobert Do whatever Romero thinks best. He seems to be good at this. Hope pressing and superior fitness work. They may have been resting on their laurels. The chances of a catastrophic weather event alone make defeat far from inevitable.
They also played that nonsense club competition and so their preseason must be a mess. Not sure where they are in their preparations.
Romero is the new captain. Predictable but I don't agree with it. As things stand he's likely to be sold next summer.
Cuti as captain, can you imagine when the press give him stick, he will two foot tackle them as they leave the press office
It was a very small field to choose from TBF Maybe the decision was made a while ago and was one of the reasons why he didn't move on this summer? Who else was there? We both agree that Porro might have been an option, but other than that? Arguably, one of the best captain 'material' would be Ben Davies, but as a backup CB/LB his time has passed.
Had we signed MGW, he should have walked it, in my estimation. Porro was the only other viable candidate.
I’ve often been a critic but the way Romero stepped up at the end of the Europa campaign was different class. If he can bring that attitude into this season rather than the one he previously gave off of not really wanting to be here and is just waiting till the next Argentina game then hopefully this is the making of him.
I hate to be cynical (actually, I don't), but I got the feeling he was only stepping up because he was fishing for a summer move. He's never seemed full bought-in to the club, imo. A perception not helped by the fact that he miraculously recovers from various injuries whenever there's an Argentina game on.
This news would ideally be followed up by a new contract for him. If not, then expect him to go to LAFC next summer
I thought that he stepped up because we started playing the football that he likes. He was still massively underperforming in the league, but defending in Europe? Loved it. You can see why Simeone and him would be a good, possibly dangerous, fit.
