Tbh it's hard to have sympathy as
    1. They knew the rules and screwed up
    and more importantly
    2. Multi club ownership is wrong and should be outlawed

I agree with you on the second point ... not the first ... they won our FA Cup on merit ... they should be allowed to compete in the completion they 'qualified' for ... but just like clubs from the same country don't get put in the same pot - they and the 'sister' club could have been separated ...

    I agree with 1.
Multi club ownership is a bit more complex.
For shenanigans to happen (ie team throwing games etc to bring out the outcome that benefits the owners monetarily) there would need to be a vast conspiracy whereby EVERYONE is complicit, managers, players, refs, VAR its just a little dumb to think that this would happen or that anyone would get away with it in this day and age. Obviously running two clubs should be a no no, like outright owning and managing two clubs, but people are invested in all kinds of ****.
Newcastles owners are also members of the consortium who own Chelsea, Clearlake.......

The same organisation that allows clubs to buy their already owned assets to circumvent PSR/FFP has a very wobbly moral highground platform ...

.... and 'blind trusts' are complete smoke and mirrors bollocks...

I dont work for, or speak for, Chelsea mate. I only support them.
This is Bod's view, not that of Chelsea's. If I had to guess I doubt Chelsea would give a ****, our owners are suss as **** and seem to have everything covered...shady as **** <laugh>
That aside, I think too big a deal is made of this multi club crap.....While I dont think it beyond a suit to try alter sporting results to benefit his bank account, it would be a behemoth of a task in modern football to pull off such a feat and would require the complicity of hundreds of people.....it just wouldnt work.

It ain't about match fixing but if Spurs' owners also had interests in a French club there is a way to artificially boost sales by selling unwanted or inexperienced players at higher prices to them and if they come good buy them back at much lower than market rates. To me that's a farce and goes against the spirit of sporting fairness.

My point wasn't just aimed at Chelsea - plenty of other clubs generating phantom profits ... naming rights ffs!!!

How much did Everton get for the 'Bradford & Bingley Long Term Savings Plan Arena' ?

You think that doesnt happen anyway? Especially amongst the yank owners, they are all in bed with each other.
Look at how cosy Chelsea and Arsenal have gotten since they have both been controlled by Americans

... what needs addressing way more is the poaching of academy kids before the sign their first contract ... but doubt FIFA/ UEFA will ever address that because the clubs doing it the most are the usual spend what you want suspects ...

Any claims to football be a level playing field are spurious bollocks ... Blatter and Platini might have represented the head of the poisonous reptile ... bit it is toxic and corrupt right down to its arse end...

Just my opinion, of course <laugh>

Don't city owners also own girona?

Weren't they both in a cl at the same time?

And what about the red bull teams too

I agree but am still against owners having investments in more than one club.

Imo the only way to to make it a fairer system is to put a limit on player wages.
So a club could spend say £200m per year (before tax) on player wages inc bonuses, signing on fees, image rights etc.
That works out at about £8m per player (before tax) with a 25 player squad.
So if you sign players on 300,000 per week (£15m per yr) you are going to have to sign others on way less.

That will never happen though but would stop the player hoarding that goes on where clubs buy players they don't really need in order to stop some other club progressing.

My problem with it is that it strips away some of the identity and autonomy from the clubs which aren't the main one.

The clubs linked with us will have two sets of plans for next summer based on whether we get promoted or not. It's bollocks, a club's situation should never be directly linked to another club's success.

apart from the fact UEFA didn't allow that and so didn't treat it as income for PSR purposes

I think Palace should just get over it tbh and Parish is just projecting a bit due to his own fallings. He knew this was a potential issue but ignored it cos he assumed they wouldn't qualify for Europe.

Anyway I think the ECL is better for them to qualify for. Some properly obscure away trips and a real chance of winning it.

I'd definitely prefer that comp over the EL as a Saints fan. Wish it'd been around when we were decent.

Can't beat that first away of the season feeling. Beautiful sunny day, a relatively obscure ground, cup football under lights (well second half at least).

Love it. Hopefully still happy come 10pm.

    No idea

    No idea

    No idea

But I still don't think owners should have interest in other clubs
