I see Zabarnyi has finally gone. Bournemouth must be rolling in it. Maybe they'll buy Fernandes and Dibling (I know it's defenders that they've sold).
They are not afraid to spend extra to get quality as opposed to us who bought quantity rather than quality when we were raking it in. I find it embarrassing that the Mini-Skates' record transfer far exceeds ours.
They wanted 5 billion baht so I haggled for him. 2 billion baht. They said 5 billion baht. I said 3 billion baht. They said 5 billion baht. I said 4 billion baht. So anyway, I paid 5 billion baht. A cookie anyone who gets this reference!
I noted this when I saw how much they actually paid for some of these players they are now selling for 45-50m. Most were at least 20 if not higher. So they weren’t looking to to try and strike it lucky with a 300%+ return It was the point I was trying to make when there was talk of links to Fellows and Rudoni for big money. As in - sell Dibling (now looking less likely) and then spend all or close to all on two players rather than 4 or 5 We messed it up with VVD and Spurs messed up like that with Bale. We have more of an excuse since as mentioned in replies we would have had loads more competition for players in the 25m+ bracket. But doesn’t change that a sale for 75m being responded to with a bunch of 15m players who were hit and miss was not the way to go
The problem is that if you sell a player for big money and try and replace him, everyone knows you have plenty of cash. This is not a strong negotiating position. We are better off trying to buy Fellows or Rudoni or Spertsyan before we sell Dibling or Fernandes.
Would love to know how transfer bids are made. Are West Ham emailing this in? Sending a message on Teams which we leave on read?
Yeah nearly £150m just on defenders iirc from recently. Thats nuts. And their purchases have been pretty stellar.
Seems like a sensible move by him, go somewhere where he plays regularly before going to a top league.
