None of us know whether we tried for each of those though. Or if any of them are worth the asking price.

Nope. Not exactly what I meant.

Whinging is complaining about these things in the absence of making the moves necessary to fight regardless.

I too am happy for the club to show some fight, not in the sense of murdering people, but on the sense of leading by example.

I don't see enough evidence of that fight since Ange left is what I'm saying. Kudus was an opportunistic signing. West Hame needed to sell. Great. I applaud it.

If I had to guess which team had drive to win between us and Man U right now, I'd pick them because they have moved with bold intent.

That is what I call fight. Regardless of who got fired to make it happen or what the ethics of the owners are.

I just want to see Spurs fight, instead of making excuses, or talking about how principled we are.

We can still fight whilst having principles.

    Let's see it.

    Exactly this.

The correct way to move is to go for both. Savinho replaces Son in the squad and Eze covers the AM position.

Let's see what principled Spurs do.

Don’t need Guehi as Spurs signed Danso :bandit:

Savinho plays on the RW mainly. Also he’s not getting close to Son’s numbers for goals scored.

Even a finished Son. (Not my opinion) scored 11 compared to 1 solitary goal for Savinho last season.

Good. Pep and his lifestyle ruined him. Not for us at this point.

    We don't need both.

Another problem I have with this signing is that it pushes Tel and Moore further down the list, as Savinho is pretty much the same age as them.

I cannot make head or tails of our strategy - if it can be called that - at the moment. We're crying out for a clearer path from academy to first team, but then we go out and spend £40-50m a piece on young players who may or may not turn out to be significantly better than the academy prospects we had for free. We screw up out HG and CG quotas and end up with truncated squads in Europe (or ones with five goalkeepers in it). Meanwhile the promising academy players end up leaving as they get fed up of waiting for playing time.

    It's a mess.

    Exactly!

We were in for him earlier this year for big money apparently, so regular team logic suggests we go in for him now, unless Takai is the alternative.

Guehi, Eze and Savinho would make an almost perfect window.

How much do any of us see this actually happening?

I still think he would have been ideal for Spurs. Crying out for creativity. Give me Grealish on loan to play in the 10 role over another winger with no end product for £50million.

I disagree. We needed Eze even before Son left.

Tel can be the striker cover that we need. Moore is out on Loan.

I'd be very surprised if Savinho is being signed to play RW. We are well stocked in that position. He played plenty of games at LW for City. Didn't do much out there, but we seem happy to ignore that.

We went in for Guehi after we signed Danso if I remember correctly.

Eze would be a class signing.

I’m unsure that Tel can be a good enough striker.

Moore will hopefully get plenty of game time at Rangers and come back a better player with experience and learnt from the physical side of Scottish football.

Odobert, Solomon and Gil are still there too. Like CK says, it’s a mess

I think last season showed that Tel is probably not suited to playing ST in the more physical PL.

I think he could work alongside Solanke as a front 2, but not sure if Frank would consider that.

Well, I don't see another striker coming in, so he had better consider something like this. We know our two strikers are gonna get injured.

It’s fair to say that between Gold, Romano or Ornstein we would’ve found out if Spurs made an approach for those players. Romano’s literally tweeting about the exact time of announcements for players these days, he’s sucked the excitement out of signings for fans because nothing is ever a surprise anymore.

As for being worth the price, that’s something we’ll find out in due course but a general rule of thumb is that the higher the fee and wages, the higher chance they’ll be a good signing. I’d have rather tried risking £80m on Ekitike than £60m on Richarlison when almost every man and his dog knew we were ****ed the moment the club sanctioned such a deal.

I think as CK recently said; we seem scared to act like a big club.

I don’t think your rule of thumb is quite right. If you look at signings by English clubs then the ones over our record don't really have a better hit rate. The ones that do succeed give world class players but there are a lot of duds. It's very uneven between clubs though...Man City and Liverpool have a much better hit record than Chelsea, Arsenal or Man Utd. I don't think anyone else has ever signed a player for more than our record.

Admirable that you would class Richarlison as a striker.

And a footballer, for that matter.
