Well they need to hurry up if they do. Hope it isn’t the case of leaving everything till the last few days and missing out due to running out of time.
I suspect it’s a case of seeing if anyone matches our valuations for other players first. Not from a financial perspective, but a numbers one. If nobody ends up leaving then we simply won’t have enough squad space for anyone else
Sounds like Edozie's move is close and suspect Aribo is close as well. I think if Spertsyan wants the move, we do it now rather than risk missing out on him.
I'm sure it was suggested that we would be bringing in 3 regardless of sales right back at the start of summer. And we still haven't brought in the third which was said to be for a Spertsyen type player. So it is a bit weird that we seem to be holding off. Don't know whether the more fringe players going would make a difference or not, or if there is only room for his quality if we lose quality i.e. Dibling or Fernandes. I'd hope it's purely a numbers thing even if that goes against what was said a couple of months ago.
If no one else comes in for him then I wonder what the chances are of him signing a new contract with a proper wage in exchange for a sensible release clause. It could be the sort of agreement that works for both sides.
Are we? All Alfie House said was that we are definitely interested, he's unsure if we've placed a bid or not. He said himself on the TSP he hasn't got inside knowledge of what's going on with Spertsyan.
Yeah I still think both will go but I can't imagine a world where we keep both. We'll surely need to let at least one of them leave.
My view, for what it’s worth, is that Saints are deliberately keeping this quiet (i.e. not briefing tame journalists like Alfie) because of the delicate political situation regarding trading with a Russian club. There will also be work permit issues which they will want to resolve before any official move happens.
I haven't listened to the latest TSP yet. Saving it for the post work dog walk! Well I'm only judging it on the fact that we have been linked to Spertsyen for quite a long time, and he plays in a position that we said we would look to strengthen even without outgoings. So that would suggest that there is something stopping us from actually putting in an offer. Their owner or manager (I forget which) said they hadn't received an offer from us. It might just be that he's not our number 1 choice and something is holding that up meaning we haven't moved down the list yet. Or it could be that we need to reduce numbers first. It could be that we just aren't actually interested in him too of course, but would be quite a left field rumour to keep appearing if we had no interest.
Yeah if they both go then certainly room for a wide player and central player (could make an argument we need them anyway regardless of if they stay or go). Not done a rundown of squad for awhile so here we go, I’ve put players in the positions I’d play them: GK: Bazunu, McCarthy RB: Sugawara, Bree LB: Manning, Taylor, Welington CB: Stephens, THB, Edwards, Wood, Quarshie, ABK, Sanda RW: Armstrong, Dibling LW: Edozie, Fraser, Robinson CM: Downes, Aribo, Smallbone, Fernandes, Charles, Matsuki ST: Stewart, Archer, Downs, BBD So 29 players by my calculations. I don’t think Quarshie, Sanda, Robinson, Dibling, Fernandes, Charles or Downs need to be registered in the squad due to their age so we do have 3 squad spaces available, but going into the season with 30 first team players (if you decide to exclude ABK and Sanda from first team squad) seems unlikely
I don't think the work permit will be an issue at all - he's a full Armenian international so don't see any issues there.
Think his regular appearances in the Russian PL will hold more weight in the points system. Armenia aren’t in FIFAs top 100 rankings for countries so think caps hold little weight in the equation for a work permit. Might be an issue but think he’ll be fine as he’s played in Russia regularly for a number of years
Grealish mostly plays off the left. One their forum they are worried that getting him means shifting someone else over to the right
Why do the Everton fans see a statement from a journalist with links to their club as actually some kind of tactic to force us into running to them to sell him at a lower price? Seems strange to me. I guess if he insists on leaving they could be right but it is just a weird way of interpreting a message
Grealish will be very expensive in terms of wages and they have already spent £25m on Dewsbury hall. Not sure they would spend another £45m+ on Dibling.
