This reminds me of a story many years ago when I was in Egypt on business with a colleague and we look a taxi to a customers office, and giving direction to the driver my colleage said it was next to the synagogue. He got the most angry look, and then realised it should have said the mosque.
He was actually Japanese, so he would have asked for the "pLayer centre" and we would have finished up at the local football ground.
I think Stuart Elliot was Sikh as a parrot when he found out about his grandparents religious denomination
two similar anacdotes: 1) checking my laptop for, what the Saudi authorites call suspicious items, on entering Riyadh Airport quite a few years ago, the customs guy came across an avi of Killing An Arab by the Cure. They didnt like the song or the sight of a Rabbi provocing a fan-belted and tee towelled Middle Easting dweller. They let me in - eventually! 2) I once stopped a Glaswegian at the roadside whilst I was up in Glasgow on business and asked for directions to St Georges Square. I didnt understand a word of his answer but I dont think it was complimentary!
Back to the OP - I don't think Koren would be the same player at Leicester. We already know that Pearson couldn't get the best from him here while Nick has done it in only six games. Leicester need success quickly, but I think Pearson will want a purge and bring in kids to replace the big names. His problem is it will take at least 1.5 seasons to achieve that and I doubt their owners will be patient.
Even though this thread was a poor wind up, I'll respond anyway. Given Korens recent comments about anyone would move for more money, I think he would definitely be open to a move away. However like I said earlier, surely another midfielder is the last thing Leicester need. Koren is a very similar type of player to Danns and King, a lot better granted, but still too similar. If anyone came in for him with a decent transfer fee and offering him double wages then I could see it happening, I just can't see Leicester coming in for him - Especially considering we've just extended his deal. Now Cameron Stewart is a different story! He will be right at the top of Nigels list. You would think Cam would show some loyalty because we got him back to fitness after 9 months out, but this is football so we can't expect it. Hopefully they will spend big money on Kebe or someone then everyone will be happy.
Nice stories, even the Aberdonian's don't understand the Glaswegians, so there is no chance for us English folk. To follow with another amusing story, I was going thru immigation/security at Lagos airport to go to Abidjan in Cote D'Ivoire, and the security guy said to me what are these tablets in your case (they were actually sleeping tablets I used on long flights). I told him they were good for a stomach problems, immediately he said he had a bad stomach and took 4 of them. I ran like hell for the plane, and was please when it took off, leaving sleeping beauty behind.
The current Mrs. Strovolos is in the medical profession. When we first started going out she went on holiday with a girlfriend to Hawaii (this had been booked before she met me). I drove them to Manny Airport and ported their suitcases (that more resembled a arabian caravan!!) through departures. Unbeknown to me and because of her profession, she was carrying a huge stash of medical drugs with her (cocodamol, paracetamol, various forms of penicillin, antihistamines etc etc) which for some reason she still does to this day. Anyway, she and her girlfriend got randomly picked to be searched so were lead over to a big table so that her luggage could be emptied. At this point she looked over to me and did one of them "Kooooooeeeee" type waves right in front of these customs guys, which I foolishly "Kooooeeeeed" back again (Yes, I know, but we were dead keen in them days, never out the sack if you know what I mean!!) Anyway, when these security men found her drugs you could see their little faces lite up with delight. They obviously thought they had broken Pablo Escobar's drug cartel!! Of course they frogmarched the two girls off to be strip searched. Then, to my horror, these two bruisers came over to me and asked if I would accompany them also to the body-search facility. It was one of those moments when you really can't make up your mind whether it is better to turn and leg-it or comply and hope for the best. As the terminal was packed and I was already pretty embarrassed I decided to go with them. After about half an hour of arguing, clothes removing, wrangling, identification confirming and phoning places of work to confirm job titles we were all released and I was sent on my way with my future spouses medicine chest and a souvenir pair of surgical gloves. The moral of the story? Never admit or show that you know somebody when that person is in the process of being arrested. Just fade away into the background.
i think the glaswegian story was more to do with the reference to 'SAINT' Georges Square actually. I dont think he liked 'Georges' square refered in such a way
