Because it’s a side effect of not being a pussy, back the boys, make the opposition uncomfortable. Wins games in this division and shows nasty fight you need to grind out results.
For me it sets the tone, for others to follow, we are a team, fk with one of us you fk with all of us, I like that, get stuck in, show them we aren't going to be bullied. Been needing it for years, not since Ashbee have we had that.
As a league,I think most Clubs are fully aware who's got what in the way of physicality? I don't mind us showing a bit of dig/muscle,it's been a while but we also need to be aware that Referees are far less tolerant nowadays and grabbing a player by the throat isn't always a safe bet for a yellow. McBurnies a smart player, knows the dark arts,he doesn't need to lift his hands,he's got big enough shoulders
exactly, you need to do it unseen, shoulder barges here and there insults and the like doing it blatantly like something from the wwe, is risking a 2nd yellow and a sending off to me, its an advantage to the opponent.. rile us up, will we get sent off?
It’s not really that though. Rushworth was clearly wound up by Crooks’ challenge and McBurnie wanted to try and push him into something more rash, and maybe get himself sent off. It was a valid bit of ****housery in a closely fought match and not a soul in the away end thought he was out of order, I’d wager.
All Wigan academy lads, Gelhardt and Joseph will have come through together, Hughes probably played a few years up so likely played with them too
There's two ways of thinking amongst people who play the game, those who want to play by the letter of the law, give the ball back to the opponents quickly to be fair, etc. and there's those that play by the spirit of the game but maybe not the letter of the law, and will be physical and intimidating to get in their opponents heads to make them think twice the next time they're in a 50/50. I'd much rather players from that second group.
Makes sense, I just assumed they got on well last season. While on this occasion there was a deeper link, I think people look too forensically at this sort of tweet sometimes!
What about the third group that seems prevalent in the Premier League and has been adopted by the new generation of Sky consuming youths? - Cheat however you can get away with it and **** the spirit of the game.
I hope we see more of this with the young players as the season goes on. Appreciate we are low on numbers at the minute, but hope they continue to get time on the pitch as the season goes on. AWOOGA
