The conundrum with Isak is this, let him go this year for a big profit. If pool offered £110 initially we can probably eek that out to £120-130m, let’s say any more would be a bonus for an un happy player but we’d have doubled our money in 2.5 years.

Keep him another year and we can probably get £80-100m for him with two years remaining on his contract, so still decent profit but if it’s the lower end of the scale your talking 40-50m less than what we could get this summer which is another Bruno/Tonali signing but still with some degree of control over the situation - but that is depending on how he performs this year - could stink the join out and we’d be looking to cut our cloth on selling him next summer.

After that we risk a rapidly devaluing asset that could be sulking and potentially leaving for free in 12 months while picking up big wages in our current wage structure.

Hate to say it but I think the smart move is to sell now (maybe January) and get the most we can for him and reinvest sensibly and quickly!
