Interesting that after all the hype about Wrexham and Birmingham, only Charlton of the promoted sides won yesterday. Funny old game.
Ipswich were awful against Birmingham and were saved by a dodgy disallowed goal and very late penalty on 90+5. Wrexham were by far the better team in the first half against Southampton. Playing a good high press and should have had another two goals at least. Then they came out second half and Parky had obviously told them to stand off to defend the lead. It was horrid to watch, gave Southampton some impressive stats but they weren't really making much of an inroad until on 90 mins Wrexham gave away a needless free kick in a dangerous area and boom, 1-1. With a few minutes of injury time left Wrexham should have just managed the game out from there but went for a winner, lost posession in the box, Southampton broke forward, played a beautiful long diagonal resulting in a shot crashing off the post and then potted the rebound. Their two goals were scored by defenders. Charlton played well but only scored from a corner on 90+4. Meanwhile, of the other play-off teams, Sheffield Utd got spanked 1-4 at home to Bristol City and Coventry could only scrape a 0-0 against Hull, who only avoided relegation on a goal difference one better than Luton. As you say, a funny old game but very entertaining - especially without VAR breaking up the flow of games. It will be interesting to see if, despite VAR, Sunderland's Premiership games are as enjoyable as the Championship ones were.
Good post from X. Well it is in my humble opinion. Ken @KennytheMackem Can we send some players to #SheffieldWednesday on loan covering their wages to help this great club out. Top fans, historic club deserve better up the owls!
Football isn't a charity and not sure it's the best place to be sending our players Really hope sheff wed get sorted soon
I would love us to do that tbh. Be lovely to be a prem club that doesnt forget who we are and where we have been. Harrison Jones, Seelt, Aleksic would benefit. They might even welcome Poveda back on a free Sadly, in the current climate, other champ clubs would probably appeal.
Sorry should reiterate, as in I don't think they wouldn't want to be seen as a charity in footballing terms Never seen it happen with any other club, maybes Busby babes but well before my time
