He was fine, until conceding the penalty. As I pointed out in the match day thread, Wrexham targeted him, probably because of his lack of height (5ft 10in ?) and stationed Moore (6ft 5in?) on him. And even if you take into consideration his push for the penalty, had Stephens not played Moore onside and not been caught square, he might not have made the foul.
I'm as happy as anyone about yesterday's win but don't let that disguise the fact we still looked toothless up front especially in the first half. With Dibling and probably Fernandes off our two main sources off attacking flair will be gone. With the likes of Edozie going amongst others, I just can't see SR recruiting these marquee signings to fill their places. Hopefully they will but my gut feeling is more recruitment of the likes of young, raw, might or might not have potential for 7m a bargain?? Much rather see a Josh Windass type player come in, thought he played well especially first half.
It was a really weird push tho. Just can’t understand why he did. Yep just a brain fart but a bit concerning. Something to work on.
Was Moore actually onside? Looked slightly off but haven’t seen any decent angles of it. But yeah agree on Edwards, looked okay and then rattled after giving away a poor penalty. Did settle again a bit in the second half helped by Moore going off who was definitely targeting him. But we have plenty of evidence that he is good at this level, so no need to panic on him. Plus he’s also very young. Quarshies physical attributes should help cover/make up for the mistakes he’ll make and being in this division should help too as they don’t get punished as frequently. This season should be perfect for his development so do want him to get lots of game time.
I think he put his hands on Moore’a back and Moore threw himself over. Doesn’t make it ok, but Moore seems to suffer from Vertigo and might need some kind of medication.
My take on Edwards is he is skilled and balanced, but lacks pace. Moore is hardly the quickest no. 9 around but outpaced Edwards. It was touch and go whether Jack would have got back, which might well have influenced the ref's decision as to whether to brandish a card.. That said, Edwards is very comfortable on the ball. Also, QPR fans rated him as a defensive midfielder where often pace is not the most important element. See Case, Romeou...
Sorry Ian but that is the most ridiculously kneejerk comment I have read in a long time. Yes he had a poor first half in his first competitive start at SMS but to suggest that the club are going to sell him on the strength of it makes no sense. He was bought for the future and is an England U21 player and was presumably scouted before he signed here, we won't pull the plug on him after one game.
Nah definite push but probably because Moore slowed & Edwards pace made the push look very heavy. Regardless, never ever going to get away with that. Better to have just kept his hands down & maybe just clattered into him. Still a pen but smiggen of a chance.
bit harsh on the outpace comment Edwards was virtually standing still with his hand in the air asking for offside, giving Moore several yards as a head start.
Ronnie Edwards has had a lot of hype around him for years now. He won QPRs young player of the season last season, and he was only there for 5 months. I think it just showed that an older, savvy forward took advantage of a young CB. Moore definitely got into Edwards head, but he more than held his own physically with a 6 inch height difference.
Dunno; if he's good news, he's as ITK as they come. If he comes with bad news (eg. Dibling deal agreed), then he's a massive tit.
