Reject anything under 150 million... Isak will sulk but when the time passes and the champions league games approach he's gunna start wanting to play. Newcastle can't be a wet fart.
I dont want him back. Sell him to a non premier league team. He is already dead to me. Could have been a legend here but he is now just nothing. Someone said above how could we ever replace Isak? He was good, even brilliant on his day but he's no Messi or Ronaldo. He has a suspect groin, goes missing in games sometimes. Replace his goal.....well Wissa scored the same in open play so you could argue getting him in, does just that. Isak is worth £150m but he's not the messiah he's just a naughty boy,( just a very ill advised prick!). Now piss off!
People said the same about ba and we ended up with Gouffran.. Be careful with emotional decisions. @Geordie Ginola Any chance you can run someone over for me?
Players can be really badly advised and one thing we definitely know is Isak's agent has previous. If he repents then he's welcome, I just think the money's too good to turn down wherever Isak's head is at. I hope Howe will make the right call in the end as he knows infinitely more than we ever will. Wissa's fine, I guess, but just another mid signing for me. Better than Wilson, I suppose, so there's that. What I struggle with is what we do after these bids. There's money for Wissa AND there's money for someone like Woltemade and that's both without selling Isak. We also obviously need a central midfielder.
Goes missing fairly frequently, usually when playing with injury, which happens quite often. I think Wissa actually scored more from open play last season. Apparently he was second for open play goals in the league, behind only Salah.
Isak needs to go under our terms but he shouldn't play again for NUFC. We will be constantly under the threat of leaving and to be honest it's just a distraction. At the moment, it actually could be beneficial to us as the press focus on Isak and not the absolute **** show of recruitment, which we are slowing starting to make progress on. Wissa is Wilson replacement. I would expect another striker or 2 before we allow him to leave. As I said previously get our recruitment done (with Isak replacements) then sell.
How much money did we have in the original budget? Elanga, Ramsdale loan fee, Thiaw and Wissa (if we get him in for around the £35m being suggested) would bring our summer spend to approx £129m, minus the money we've got for Longstaff and Dubravka (£14m?). So probably around £115m net spend.
This is why I’m quite relaxed about the situation. He’s not worth £150m and he’s only had 2 maybe 3 good seasons in his career. If he went to Liverpool he wouldn’t be the main man. Wouldn’t take penalties and Ekitike is going to play also. Sign Wissa and everything will be fine. We need a striker a midfielder and a defender which looks like that’s Thiaw. Sign Wissa. And then a midfielder then we are ok to go into the new season.
We say we can’t sell Isak without a replacement first. But if every club operated that way no one would sell. I reckon offer him out to europes top clubs outside the PL and get rid.
I really would prefer that outcome... Newcastle are not going to be able to replace him. Liverpool blocked Gerrard to Chelsea and there's other examples... Don't let emotions and the media tell you he won't be the same. He's gunna wanna play as the CL games approach.
Thought the same - if he can be integrated back, he will be. Once the season kicks off and SJP is in full swing with CL games, he'll be fine. Would rather have moved decisively and sold to reinvest the funds, but we've shown we're not capable in transfers/wages yet.
Yeah and then we've won... If we sell him we've lost that battle and the next nufc player will follow his example. The wider implications are bigger than Isak.
