It is why there is no VAR in the EFL. it will show up just how awful the referees are. As for Wrexham yesterday they won't always be able rely on such bias from a referee.
Tuesday, 12th August 2025 Northampton Town v Southampton (19:45) Referee :- DAVID ROCK Assistant Referees :- Kevin Howick and Andy Bennett Fourth Official: Conor Farrell
He was brilliant yesterday - that season at Sheffield has done wonders. Him and Robinson both very impressive.
He looks a completely different player to what I remember; whether it was the tactics at the time, or his season away (or a combination of both?), but he looked outstanding yesterday.
Thank goodness for people like you on here, otherwise I wouldn't even bother. You'd have thought that Saints had lost 6-0 and been 5-0 down after 15 minutes. In the record books it will say Southampton 2 Wrexham 1. That's three I have on ignore now - my own team's supporters. How crap is that?
Was very impressed with him yesterday. Was probably our best player over the 90 minutes though I'd give Manning motm.
In fairness, you can think it was a poor performance (which, despite a few individual displays, it was) and still think it was an incredible result in the end.
Final comment from a slightly hungover me on yesterday.... If you can't enjoy yesterday, or your immediate reaction is to pick holes and try to project the negatives onto a long season, Im not sure football (or at least following Southampton) is not for you. Yesterday was glorious. Fans who've had a dreadful year with delerious smiles and beaming players clutching at badges. Its what builds teams, clubs, memories. Happy days.
Morning all, still buzzing from yesterday. Will we get promoted playing like that every week, probably not Will we play like that every week, probably not. Yesterday was 9 August 2025. It was only our 3rd league win since 26 May 2024. Let's just ****ing enjoy it.
Absolutely, you can also disagree with someone's opinions, I have opinions that so far look wrong, and I expect people to tell me so, I also explain my opinions in a rational manner and I am not pleased when I think X player isn't very good or a tactic or passage of play looked poor or ill thought-out. All of this is good. I have no problem with it. I don't get angry, hate or abuse other people. What makes me frown is the little group on here that revels, and let's be honest they revel, in Southampton playing poorly, letting in goals, and they utterly love saying 'I told you so, I'm right - again!' I love to say about Saints 'I was utterly wrong again'. But no one has to get angry or ignore me, I'm not doing the Prediction League this season and I will be visiting here less often and then only reading stuff more than contributing.
Agreed with all the above. I forgot that lovely feeling of walking away from the ground happy and smiling. I looked around and everyone else was too.
Yeah if any one had put loading on ignore, they would have wondered what all the fuss was about a couple of years ago
Agreed. Was great to see everyone so happy leaving the ground. A nice moment was when sky were showing replays of the Manning goal and it was on the big screen behind the Northam so for every replay we had the "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Reyyyyy!'
